COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle conditioned - 150 cl, 75 cl, and 33 cl bottles. Named Grande Réserve in 75 cl bottles, and Magnum Grande Réserve in 150 cl bottles.
Chimay Blue is principally distinguished by its character of a strong beer. This is a beer whose fragrance of fresh yeast with a light, flowery rosy touch is especially pleasant. Its flavour, noticed when tasting it, only accentuates the pleasant sensations perceived in the aroma , while revealing a light but pleasant touch of roasted malt. This top fermented Trappist beer, refermented in the bottle, is not pasteurised.

My favorite Trappistes beer ever. Color, head, scent (aaahhh the yeast smell from Chimay) taste (roasted malt, chocolate). It just goes down nicely. A great Belgian (trappist) strong Ale.

From Oct 2005 Poured a beautiful golden bown....one of the nicest beers sitting in a glass ever. The head was fairly huge but calmed down after a few minutes to a fine layer with wonderful lacing. The smell was a nice fruity-malty thing going on that I enjoyed spending some time doing. The taste is malt and fruit with just a slight hint of cloves and the 9%abv is pretty well hidden. Good stuff.

UPDATED: OCT 14, 2017 No matter how frequently you drink a Chimay bleau it is always like drinking it for the first time. The tender kiss of the first sip takes you back to your very first, and as imbibing gathers pace you nod to yourself reflectively that this was such a spectacular beer. After 3 sips you are reassured that yes, this was a spectacular choice of one of the finest beers to ever have been brewed! If you have never drunk this beer, ask yourself why?

UPDATED: OCT 13, 2017 Bottle. Pours hazy with dark brown colour. Thin beige head. Aroma of bread and malt. Medium to full body with average carbonation. Malty, with burnt sugar sweetness and a hint of orange bitter. Same feeling lingers on in the aftertaste.

Mild floral aroma with prunes and brown sugar. Taste: mild pepper, nuts, liquorice and raisins as well as almost cheese-like yeast. Wow! So balanced and subtle.

UPDATED: OCT 11, 2017 Very big head and interesting color. Dark color which becomes lighter. A little parfume as aroma. Light palate very pleasant. High quality.

Farbe: braun Schaum: fein, flach, beständig Nase: röstmalz gerste holz, nasse socken. Geschmack: feinperlig, rund und vollmundig, angenehm bitter. Röstaromen, aber nichts rauchiges. Holz. Recht komplex und rund aka echt gutes Zeug. Ziemlich alkoholisch. Hauch von Kakao. Oha, watn bier.

Ja zagryzałem pleśniowym serem i melonem galia więc weszło gładko. W istocie fajny trappist gęsty i lepki i przyjemnie rozgrzewa. Polecam.

W aromacie nuty chlebowe, szampańskie, suszone owoce, karmel.

Aroma is yeast, raisins, syrop de Liège. Taste is yast, a tad roasted, sweet. Full bodied palate but still not that impressive. Aftertaste is light.
