COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle conditioned - 150 cl, 75 cl, and 33 cl bottles. Named Grande Réserve in 75 cl bottles, and Magnum Grande Réserve in 150 cl bottles.
Chimay Blue is principally distinguished by its character of a strong beer. This is a beer whose fragrance of fresh yeast with a light, flowery rosy touch is especially pleasant. Its flavour, noticed when tasting it, only accentuates the pleasant sensations perceived in the aroma , while revealing a light but pleasant touch of roasted malt. This top fermented Trappist beer, refermented in the bottle, is not pasteurised.

UPDATED: JUL 11, 2011 Bottle. Poured a rich medium to dark brown with a small off-white foamy head that was fully diminishing and had fair lacing. The aroma was of roasted malts, a mild flowery hops and a light scent of a sweet yeast with notes of dried fruit. It tasted slightly bitter-sweet in the beginning with a hint of raisons and finished moderately sweet and malty and had a slight alcohol tinge at the end with the flavor only lasting a short time. Mouthfeel was medium in body and very creamy yet oily in texture. Overall a fantastic/outstanding brew with one hell of a kick. One of my favorites, but don’t drink too many!!!!!!

Chimay Blue Grand Reserve- bottle, mainly malt smell when opening, but rosy as description, not carbonated but very tasty, no lingering bitter taste which spoils in mouth, spicy fruit taste, very smooth nice creamy feel that melts in mount, dry, Cannot taste the 9% alcohol.

Bottle 75cl. Aroma is sweet, brown sugar, a bit fruit in the nose as well. Pours dark brown with a nice tan head, more carbo than I expected. Taste is fruits, sugar, caramel and a gentle alcohol hint in the end.

Presa in bottiglia. Birra marrone scuro. Schiuma cremosa e scura. All’olfatto sentori di spezie e profumo di tostato. Al palato si presenta un corpo con note di caramello e di cioccolato. Una birra eccezionale da bere sui formaggi.

Birthday present, 750 ml bottle. Tulip glass. Cork pops, mist appears. Hazy orange/bronze beer with off-white head and champagne carbonation. Nose of yeast, fruit, malt, dough. Spicy fruity taste, smooth texture. Really easy to drink at 9%! Finish has more fruit and floral notes. Alcohol only becomes noticeable very late on, but not unpleasant. As it warms, more malt is apparent. Classic.

Dark beer, with lively carbonation. Licorice and sugar , it produces still a strong ’kick’ so that it’s not too sweet. Kinda sultry aftertaste, which is preferable!
