Bottle. Hazy golden colour with white foam. Aroma: yeast, malts, fruity and floral notes. Taste: malts, yeast, honey, summer fruits, hops, in other words a distinctively Chimay taste! Medium body. Very tasty stuff!

Had this in 2013 at the abbey taproom. Never saw it in bottles until a recent trip to the local beer store. Nice fresh malt on the finish. Hoppier and more balanced and drinkable given lower ABV - kind of nice to have this kind of beer in Belgium once in a while.

Orange color, with little head, disappearing. Smell is malty, but also soapy. Taste too, with also coriander notes. Empty mouthfeel. I love all the Trappist beer, but this one is the worst till now.

330ml bottle from Saveur-Biere.fr. Pours hazy gold with bright white head. As expected it’s rather unremarkable with a settled, measured blonde character and light floral yeast notes. Drinkable but forgettable.

bottle that was shared. this has been awhile back but from memory this poured a golden honey yellow color with a white head that lasted for awhile. i remember the aroma being a bit of the belgian yeast and esters but almost in a muted way. like soft waifs on the air. the flavor was outstanding chimay through and through soft belgianesque flavors with hint of light funk on the end. excellent beer start to finish.

Bottle. I see these pop up more and more, availability does not seem to be an issue anymore. Pours a grayish honey color with frothy lasting head. Very nice and inviting aroma: mostly saison (yeast) with a floral touch (nettle, buttercups). Distant hint of lemon. Yeast deposit reveals more exotic fruits, pineapple and lychee, melon. The taste is refreshing and fruity, but watery. I would say it is like a saison, but the grainy/yeasty taste is replaced with a mellow and fruity taste, mostly melon and a hint of pineapple. Very mellow bitter development and aftertaste.

several bottles tasted on several occasions, from before official release and after. This is a very tasteful beer, with a huge amount of floating particles that really make stuff "work". Pours cloudy light yellow, loads of yeast in the aroma but a very refined taste and body. I dug this every time again.

Bottle from Cornelius. Hazy golden body with a thin white head. Light lacing. Aroma of lemon, yeast and salt. Flavour of lime, green apple and a hint of spice. Medium body with a spritzy texture. Very fizzy. Not particularly interesting.

tfredvik (1830) - Oslo, NORWAY - MAY 5, 2015
Cloudy pale amber body with a very long-lived head that stays a decent layer until the glass is finished. Good lacing. Strong aroma of Belgian yeast, pale malts, spices, citrus (especially lemon) and some slightly disturbing notes of sweat and cheese in the back. The two latter notes are not to be found in the pretty strong flavour, but apart from that it follows the aroma. Light sweet taste and very little bitterness. This beer is light-bodied, dry and aggressively carbonated. Fair enough, but the monks should stick to their higher ABV brews.
