3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from the LCBO. Poured carefully, it comes out a nice clear golden with a frothy white head and a few floaties. Aroma is quite fruity - pear and bruised apple predominant - along with nondescript herbal note, a hint of peppery yeast, and a touch of sourdough. Flavour is less complex, just a simple and pleasant golden ale with notes of honey, pear, the ever popular (and lazily described) Belgian yeast, and peppery herbal hops lingering in the finish. A previous review describes it as a "session tripel", and I agree with that assessment. I also agree that it’s rather good, despite being not so distinctive and complex as the better known Chimay trio.

330ml bottle from International Beer Collector 6 pack, BB 12/2017. Nice clear golden pour with big fluffy white head, lots of cascading bubbles. Aromas of grains, pear, apple, spicy belgian yeast character, floral notes. The taste has a bready and honey malt character, herbal and spicy hop bitterness, pears. Light bodied, high carbonation. Best description for this is a session tripel. Really quite good.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a cloudy brownish yellow with a large foamy white head. Aroma of yeast and coriander. Light carbonation with lost of lacing. Smooth with a taste of brad dough and celery. Fairly light. Flavors aren’t very bold and don’t last long. Smooth finish. Not unpleasant but not really my favorite style. Enjoyable.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Heavily sedimented dark golden pour wears a gentle white cover. Light aromatic qualities offer shy esters and grainy, toasted bread reminiscent malt character bathing in a muddled yeastiness. Slightly vegetal, mostly in the nose which seems to happen with most Chimays I try recently (every other month). Grows watery in mouth where rather stale malted grains and bready yeast pair along with mellow floral and powdery lemony hops. Light-medium body, heavy carbonation, easy-drinking straightforward belgian session ale that reaches no heights.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
330mL bottle from International Beer Collector. BB 12/2017
Pours a hazy pale gold with a sizeable fluffy white head falling into a dense cap atop.
Pleasant aroma - peppery, clove-like phenolics with notes of apricot & lemon, combining with grainy, light toasty, hay-like pale malts.
Effervescence body, creamy carbonation provides an extra sense of weight to the palate - rather nice.
Plenty of yeast-driven character on the body - ripe yellow peach & apricot esters, white pepper, nutmeg, clove dry palate out & linger with some grainy, cereal sort of malt character & subdued bitterness.
Haven’t had a Chimay in quite some time; this reminds me somewhat of the White/Tripel - really good weight for essential a "lite" Trappist!

330ml: this is a lame ass low boost Chimay equivalent . I think this kinda subdued lazy stab @ a Trappist beer is an insult to anyone with a sophisticated palate . Why the fuck would you drink this watered down shit ? Get a Chimay White next time !
