On the eye, the beer boasts a deep brown robe with a bright glint. Its extremely fine and smooth foam also possesses a slight shade of cream.
On the nose, notes of vanilla, marzipan and wood are equally predominant. On the palate, the woodiness cloaks the bread crust, roasting, rum aromas and empyreumatical notes
This edition boasts an excellent blend of the characters of Chimay Grande Reserve and Rum.
A balance between roundness and power that will be appreciated at best between 6 months and 1 year after its bottling.
36% french oak
42% american oak
22% rum
Colour: Dark brown
Beer look: Limpid
Foam look: Thin

Unike and excellent in all aspects. The best beer I have ever tasted. Highly recommended for those who think they have already tasted the best beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Aromat mocno rumowo alkoholowy, dużo ciemnych owoców - głównie śliwki, skórka chleba. Smak intensywny, bardziej wytrawny niż słodki, ciemne owoce, śliwki, lekki i rozgrzewający alkohol.

1 finger off-white head. Very deep, dark ruby coloured beer.

Aroma is raisins, slight marzipan, vanilla and fig jam.

Taste is vanilla, raisin & fig jam, prunes, dark oak, slight belgian yeast with the banana notes and then rye crispbread at the back with some pleasant, warming alcohol.

Mouthfeel is semi-sticky with a pretty soft but high carbonation. Medium bitterness. Nice fruity sweetness that never overwhelms.

Overall: Heard some mixed reviews about this but I found it to be really good! The standard version is a classic but I wasn't that impressed by that one. This, on the other hand, has a lot of good things going. Never truly reaches peak in exploding flavours but it's still a very pleasant sipper.

Whole Foods for too much money. Pours brown with a beige head. Aroma is woody, not really sure if I am getting rum. Nice yeasty aroma with dark fruits and stuff. Taste is rich and woody. Nice touches from the barrel giving an old classic a new twist.
