Bottle Conditioned - 75 cl, and 33 cl bottles.
Ingredients: Pilsner malt (French barley from Champagne); wheat starch or flour (10% - 15%); dextrose (5%); malt extract (0.1%); hop extract from German Hallertaur (aroma) & American Galena (bittering) hops. Yeast & liquid invert sugar added to the bottled beer.
Chimay Red is noted for its coppery colour which makes it particularly attractive. Topped with a creamy head, it gives off a light, fruity apricot aroma produced by the fermentation. The taste perceived in the mouth is a balance confirming the fruity nuances noticed in the fragrance. Its taste, which imparts a silky sensation to the tongue, is made refreshing by a light touch of bitterness. To the palate, the taster perceives a pleasant astringency which complements the flavour qualities of this beer very harmoniously. This top fermented Trappist beer, refermented in the bottle, is not pasteurised.

UPDATED: FEB 7, 2018 Flaske. Lidt tåget brun ale. Let skum som svinder til tynd lag. Lidt sødlig mørk ristet aroma. Mørk malt, lidt sød, skummende fornemmelse, chikane gær. God øl, men ikke på niveau med den blå.

0,33 l bottle. Pours hazy dirty copper with a finger of light tan head. Aroma of malt, caramel, dried fruit, yeast, slight woody scent. Taste is medium sweet, light bitter. Body is surprisingly light for ABV, texture is slick and carbonation quite lively. Finish is long, fades quickly in intensity, but then dried fruit and mellow bitterness linger for a while. Not as complex as some other dubbel, it is very pleasant and extremely drinkable.

Can't get much better beer than this. aroma is nice, herbal, floral and malty. Taste is really complex and you can find anything from toffee banana mix to liquorice. Really nice. Trappist beer is always worth to try. more at www.eräsmies.fi

Fles gedeeld door LiekevdV. Het is een troebel roodbruin bier met een dunne schuimkraag. Het heeft een kruidig aroma. De smaak is wat bitter en caramelachtig.

Bottle from the LCBO, been in the cellar for a bit; BB date of 12/2020. Another beer I've had many times, but never rated. Pours a warm reddish brown with a lovely creamy light tan head. Big aroma of toasty caramel, toffee, some stone fruits. Tastes of very ripe apricots, caramel, malty middle, lingering fruit, ends with a lovely dryness. Mmmm, mmm, mmm, there was a reason I've been craving this beer.
