Bought @ Carrefour.
Aroma is yeast, banana and ripe fruit. Tad artificial. Taste is thin, a bit roasted, ash and fruity. Rather unpleasant. Palate is slightly dry. Finish is a muddle. monksmisery (29) - - OCT 2, 2017
the perfect baseline for anybody's understanding of beer. in my first tasting of this, i was reminded of all of my favourite beers in trying to describe what chimay red's flavour is. it has the smoothness of a hazelnut brown ale, matched with the tropical fruitiness of a munich weiss, the dark/light nature of a dunkel, alongside the skilled fermentation required for the best saisons. this beer is both accessible to any palette and impressive to the experienced looking for something special. chimay's red is the centre of the compass for exploring truly good beer.

UPDATED: FEB 2, 2018 In the aroma i find something from a fruitiness, not citrus but more red fruit on an undertone of malt. It looks rather clear-copperish with a nice head. The taste has a nice bitterness with a touch of sweetnes, not yeasty. Reminds me of old-style abbey-beer(before the trippels and dubbels) beer much but more sophisticated. A good body , creamy in the mouth with a hint of yeastyness in the aftertaste. Very enjoyable. JuanFlk80 (392) - Oviedo, SPAIN - SEP 25, 2017
Caña en Cerveceria Kraken (Oviedo) Color marrón claro, poco aroma, bastante suave para los 7 grados que tiene. higgsbison (275) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - SEP 21, 2017
Strong Belgian yeast fermentation. A nice malty sweetness with notes of burnt caramel and toffee. When first opened and cold it is very effervescent; reminiscent of champagne. this carbonation overpowers the subtlety of the beer. But that settles down after it sits a bit. The character really changes with temperature. You must let this one warm up to reach its potential. It is much mellower and tastier with a subtle complexity when just slightly chilled. An excellent Belgian dubbel.

Pours a cloudy, crimson-maroon beer, with vigorous fine carbonation, and a tight, rocky, off-white head. The aroma is led by malt, and dark, fruity phenols: biscuit, honeycomb, caramelised sugar, then plum skins, cherry, spices, and a vague hint of banana. Oak sap and mineral water come through on the finish, and a warming tinge of alcohol suffuses the throat and nostrils. The mouthfeel is soft and smooth.
Although the yeast does imbue the beer with a degree of complexity, it lacks the interest and depth of flavour that other Trappist beers provide. loscovar (876) - Principality of SEALAND, - SEP 14, 2017
Bottle from la superette à bières. Good beer, no doubt, the yeasts are giving this beer something special. Not my favourite from the brewer biilz (311) - SPAIN - SEP 11, 2017
UPDATED: DEC 28, 2017 Классический Абадский Эль.Имеет множество оттенков и привкусов ; ягоды, земляника в том числе,цитрусы и цветочные нотки. Мешают всему этому великолепию четкое алкогольное послевкусие. bmcwolf (6) - - SEP 10, 2017 does not count
11 ounces is plenty.
Have to be in the mood.
One bottle is enough.
Feels like an old time 17th century ale
