caramel, roasty, toast, floral, herbs, butterscotch, brown, cloudy, bottle-fermented, tasty yeast on the last swig, lightly sour, dough, basement aromas. SimonBlok (862) - GRONINGEN, NETHERLANDS - OCT 24, 2017
33cl bottle at home. Appearance: slightly hazy reddish brown with big off-white head. Aroma: candied sugar, bread, fruits, apricot, dried red fruits and apple. Taste: high sweetness and medium bitterness. Notes of bread, dried apricot, raspberry, candied sugar. Palate: medium bodied, watery to oily texture and lively carbonation. dunklermessias (386) - GERMANY - OCT 23, 2017
330 ml bottle. Pours with a cloudy, dark amber color and a small white head. Nose is earthy, metallic, some dried fruits. Strange carbonation, too much. I dont like that, Taste is unripe fruits, yeast, slightly bitter, some nuts at finish. Mishnok (438) - Tyne & Wear, ENGLAND - OCT 21, 2017
Nice looking beer. Nut brown ale with some lively carbonation. It has a fruity, sweet malts flavour with some yeastiness. Good series of flavours on the palate and complex aftertaste. Good Belgian ale

14/20 Great rich fruity taste - the taste I like from Belgium beers. Big taste for 7% but some of the stronger beers do have a deeper boozier taste. Slightly too carbonated, but definitely a winner.

Poured from caged and corked 750ml bottle(cork says 2006) a cloudy rusty brown with a huge head of foam that just won't quit. Lacing abounds!
The smell is of spice, yeast, and sweet malt with a touch of citric fruit.
The taste has some caramel sweetness up front with a splash of dark fruit, mainly plum but also fig. Midway through, the sweetness comes back with some citrus bitterness that grows right through to the finish. Nice taster and quite easy to drink.
Bottom line: Very nice Dubbel that should not be overlooked. I recommend it!

Zoet, fruitig, licht kruidig. veel koolzuur, licht bitter in de afdronk. Lijkt een beetje op grimbergen dubbel maar dan zwaarder. Weinig complex, haalt het niet bij de Westmalle dubbel. BrewWhatIWant (323) - Ontario, CANADA - OCT 15, 2017
Pours a dark copper colour with a big offwhite head that quickly recedes leaving a spotty mould that lasts the remainder of the glass. Aroma is slightly malty with some fruit and a little alcohol. Taste is sweet and a little bitter. There are notes of nutty malt, red apple, some spicy phenolics, caramel, a touch of medicinal and solvent. Body is light-medium with lots of carbonation. This is the beer that got me into continental beers. My tastes have since trended from Brussels to Bavaria but this is still a complex and enjoyable beer. oberschlesier (214) - Kattowitz, UPPER SILESIA, - OCT 13, 2017
Aromat karmelu, brązowego cukru, lekka waniliowość, utlenienie, suszone owoce. Smak zbalansowany ale słodki. Ładny brązowy kolor i piana obfita, grubopęcherzykowa - typowo belgijska. Fajne piwo. wein.doch (47) - - OCT 7, 2017
Beim ersten Mal war ich nicht überzeugt, war aber auch etwas zu warm... heute schmeckt es mir deutlich besser: starke dunkle Karamel Note mit angenehmen sauren und auch bitteren Anteilen. Fruchtig und stark. Typisch belgisches Bier.
