COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle Conditioned - 75 cl, and 33 cl bottles.
Ingredients: Pilsner malt (French barley from Champagne); wheat starch or flour (10% - 15%); dextrose (5%); malt extract (0.1%); hop extract from German Hallertaur (aroma) & American Galena (bittering) hops. Yeast & liquid invert sugar added to the bottled beer.
Chimay Red is noted for its coppery colour which makes it particularly attractive. Topped with a creamy head, it gives off a light, fruity apricot aroma produced by the fermentation. The taste perceived in the mouth is a balance confirming the fruity nuances noticed in the fragrance. Its taste, which imparts a silky sensation to the tongue, is made refreshing by a light touch of bitterness. To the palate, the taster perceives a pleasant astringency which complements the flavour qualities of this beer very harmoniously. This top fermented Trappist beer, refermented in the bottle, is not pasteurised.

A bottle from Jason’s near NCCU, drunk at home. Aroma: bready and malty, with some grass. Appearance: poured at room temperature, head was gigantic - settled to 2-3mm. of tan lacing. An inviting, cloudy brown. Palate: full-bodied and thick, average carbonation, long, complex finish. Taste: bitter predominates, malt is always present. Another good one.

Colore ramato. Schiuma fine e persistente. Gusto fruttato e lievemente tostato. Carbonatazione abbastanza vivida.

Bouteille 75cl, V&B Grenoble.

Bottle at home. Pours clear, dark ruby with frothy white foam. Aromas of yeast, fruit, light caramel. Spicy and quite dry. Slightly acidic, with lively carbonation. Sweet and ok hoppy. Good.

The foam is porous. Colour dark ruby, like a strong tea. In aroma and taste pleasant of yeast, fruits, something of dried apricots and a little hop. Not as cool as the bleue, but is still very decent.

330ml. bottle in The Beer House, Vientiane, Laos. Pours a cloudy copper colour. Aroma of fruit, yeast and hops. Slightly acidic. Spicy and fairly well carbonated. A bitter finish but the balanced flavours make this an excellent brew.
