Bottle Conditioned - 75 cl, and 33 cl bottles.
Ingredients: Pilsner malt (French barley from Champagne); wheat starch or flour (10% - 15%); dextrose (5%); malt extract (0.1%); hop extract from German Hallertaur (aroma) & American Galena (bittering) hops. Yeast & liquid invert sugar added to the bottled beer.
Chimay Red is noted for its coppery colour which makes it particularly attractive. Topped with a creamy head, it gives off a light, fruity apricot aroma produced by the fermentation. The taste perceived in the mouth is a balance confirming the fruity nuances noticed in the fragrance. Its taste, which imparts a silky sensation to the tongue, is made refreshing by a light touch of bitterness. To the palate, the taster perceives a pleasant astringency which complements the flavour qualities of this beer very harmoniously. This top fermented Trappist beer, refermented in the bottle, is not pasteurised.

Po czasie opada do 2mm kożuszka trochę oblepiając szkło. [goblet Chimay]
Aromat: Średnio intensywny, złożony, bogaty. Słodkość słodowa głównie karmelowa z dozą czekolady połączone z estrami w postacie rodzynek, suszonych śliwek i min. wiśni, fenolami pieprzowymi oraz perfumowym alkoholem. Przyjemny zapach.

UPDATED: DEC 4, 2017 Treacle toffee and tart red fruit on the nose, with a touch of sweet malt. Initially dry and toasty-bitter, sweetening in the mind-body. A very nice Biere Brune.

Clear amber, no lace. Earthy nose. Medium body, moderately flavorful, bright, hot, clean mouthfeel, long aftertaste. Crisp, mildly bitter, dry but balanced. Fruity, moderately hoppy, caramel, yeasty. Pleasant, not my favorite style but bet enjoyable. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

UPDATED: DEC 10, 2017 Chimay Red was my first intro to Belgian beers. I like beers that are in the 7% to 8% abv range. Although I prefer St. Bern Prior 8 over Chimay Red, Chimay is more commonly distributed especially in restaurants. Definitely a better option over domestic beers!

330ml bottle. Pours slightly hazy reddish brown, small tan head. Toffee, malts, some alcohol. Taste is sweet malty, nutty, toffee, yeasty, some alcoholy. Medium + bodied, average carbo. Decent belgian.

UPDATED: NOV 18, 2017 33cl bottle poured into a tulip glass. Dark amber color with a slight reddish, copper tint. Creamy 2 inch head that slowly dissipated. Aroma is yeast, orange peel, toffee. Perfect balance between dry hoppiness and sweetness. Smooth and silky in the mouth. Each drink makes me want the next even more. An outstanding beer - one of the best I’ve ever had.

Dried fruit aroma, almost like a stodgy, boozy fruit cake. Lovely ruby body with a slightly red head. Good amount of malt and fruit. Very drinkable for the IPA. Never overly rich or sickly, well balanced.

Chimay Red, the last of the three for me to rate. Consumed many times but time to put it on paper. Who knows where this .75 liter bottle came from, available everywhere thank goodness. The cork removed, the contents go into my Chimay trappist glass of course. Gorgeous presentation, ruby flare pearl body and a complementary long-lasting, light beige head. A sniff delivers cane sugar, ripe peach, currant, something flowery. With George Benson in the background I lift the glass for a drink. Drier than the Blue but still there is raisin, bread, a distinct spiciness, yellow fruit. A faint bitterness beginning and end. Quite good, one of my favorite dubbels.
