COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Chimay Tripel, with its typical golden colour, its slightly hazy appearance and its fine head is especially characterised by its aroma which results from an agreeable combination of fresh hops and yeast. The beer’s flavour, as sensed in the mouth, comes from the smell of hops: above all it is the fruity notes of muscat and raisins that give this beer a particularly attractive aroma. The aroma complements the touch of bitterness. There is no acidity, but an after-bitterness which melts in the mouth. This top fermented Trappist beer, refermented in the bottle, is not pasteurised.
Ingredients: Water, malted barley, wheat starch, sugar, hop extract and yeast. See Protz (beer-pages.com/protz/features/chimay.htm) and John White (www.whitebeertravels.co.uk/chimay.html)

Bottled. Pours hazy, deep orange with huge white, everlasting head. Spicy, fruity-flowery aroma, followed by the same notes in taste, but they feel somewhat weak and the sip bit a too light. Short sweet finish, lively carbonation, and surprisingly light on body. Expected more, to be honest.

Złotej barwy z piękną pianą. Gęstą, drobną i obfitą. W aromacie owoce i przyprawy. W smaku podobnie jak w aromacie, z lekką goryczką na finiszu. Bardzo pijalne.

Poured a deep hazy orange with a loose moderately sized head. Aroma is alcohol, light malt, and... butterscotch cough drops(?). Taste is a wallop of alcohol masking mild biscuit malts and light hop bitterness. Full bodied, astringent, oily mouthfeel, with an extremely long finish. Warms the belly. A seriously bold beer that I enjoyed immensely.

Jabic (588) - Plainfield, Vermont, USA - JUN 3, 2017
Ar: Banana and white peach; black pepper, star anise, and fruity coriander; sweet cracker maltiness. Ap: Deep gold and hazy; large off-white head with excellent retention, leaving a picture-perfect cap of super-airy foam and dry webs of bubbly coating on the glass sides. T: Rich pear and plum; doughy and slightly sweet, with a bit of alcohol warmth; white pepper and dried flowers; orange and banana on the finish, with a high, slightly earthy bitterness. P: Medium body with very high carbonation, prickly full foam; finish is dry. O: A classic tripel, with austere and refined quality; bright, satisfying fruit esters, with lots of spice and hops lending a delicious complexity; warming yet exceptionally drinkable, one part quaffing beer and another party sipping beer!
