Chimay Tripel, with its typical golden colour, its slightly hazy appearance and its fine head is especially characterised by its aroma which results from an agreeable combination of fresh hops and yeast. The beers flavour, as sensed in the mouth, comes from the smell of hops: above all it is the fruity notes of muscat and raisins that give this beer a particularly attractive aroma. The aroma complements the touch of bitterness. There is no acidity, but an after-bitterness which melts in the mouth. This top fermented Trappist beer, refermented in the bottle, is not pasteurised.
Ingredients: Water, malted barley, wheat starch, sugar, hop extract and yeast. See Protz (beer-pages.com/protz/features/chimay.htm) and John White (www.whitebeertravels.co.uk/chimay.html)

This beer was headed for a 3.8 rating but the more I drank, the more I enjoyed it. Poured in a Duvel Tulip bought today, very pleased with it, supported a decent sized head that disappeared after about 5 minutes, golden and hazy beer. The aroma is of yeast and sugars, taste is hoppy, slightly bitter, very smooth on the palate, creamy, silky. Just my second Tripel. At this rate, I cannot wait to go to Belgium in September. Lovely beer. And thats the 3 Chimays done for me.

bottle, mainly malt smell when opening, looking for other fruit but difficult to find, taste bitter with some lingering aftertaste, dry, not so creamy and a bit harsh aftertaste. Can taste the alcohol.

Draft. Hazy dark gold in colour. Hoppy, yeasty aroma. Fruity (orange-citrus, raisins). Hoppy (earthy, peppery hops). Yeasty and Spicy (cinnamon). Malty (caramel). Dry bitter edge throughout. Dry finish. Very nice beer! (2008)

Piana mega trwała, zbita, drobna. W aromacie brzoskwinie, suszone morele.

PREZENTACJA: przejrzyste, złote, piana jest ogromna, ale szybko się dziurawi i pozostaje po niej chmurkowo-kołnierzykowy harmider, ładnie zdobi szkło;
AROMAT: ulotny, lekko winny, przaśny, przyprawowy, chlebowy z nutą drewnianą;
ODCZUCIE: ciało niskie, wysoko nasycone;
SMAK: zboże, chleb, nutka winna, średnia średnio długa drewniana goryczka;
OGLNIE: takie sobie, trochę bez wyrazu, nie czuć w ogle alkoholu.

Served quite cold from a tulip, nice frothy head. Appearance is yellow with some cloud. Tangy, bread and banana like flavours. Very smooth, almost Weiss like with pronounced yeast-strain flavours and slight bitter aftertaste.

Balanced. Bread, cream, banana, coriander. Slightly more pronounced bitterness than f.e. a Karmeliet.

Pours a hazy yellow like aged leather with a big white head that lasts forever leaving plenty of lacing. Aroma is hoppy with a bit of fruity sweetness. Taste is fairly bitter, a bit sweet, and a little tart with medicinal, tannic dryness. Notes of noble hops up front, along with lemon, bubblegum, peach, wheat, and some peppery spice. It has a very foamy, full mouthfeel and plenty of carbonation. On the first sip it seemed too medicinal and off putting, but it grew on me.

Aroma is very good, fruity. Lots of white cream head, stays. First taste is sweet malty caramel. This slowly develops into bitterness of hops and that stays also for aftertaste, when sweetness is gone. Excellent tripel. Easily drinkable, pure joy.
