Poured from caged and corked 750ml bottle(Cork says 06 06) a reddish gold with a huge billowy head of foam that simply wouldn't quit. It finally *did* settle down to a solid layer with lots of pretty lacing.
The smell is yeasty and fruity with some clove. A nice nose indeed.
The taste has a strong malt presence up front that has some sweet to semi sweetness to it. That's followed by a fruitness of apricot and banana with a nice mild clove flavour. There's also flavours of yeast and some citrus sourness near and through the finish. But...the biggest thing I can say about this sample is that it tastes so damn fresh! I've had older, perhaps not handled correctly, samples before that did not impress me at all and made me avoid buying more. Until now. Damn, this is a very good Trippel and so darn drinkable!
Bottom line: This bottle of Chimay Cinq Cents is inspiring. I'm going to buy some more and sock away a few bottles for later enjoyment.(no mishandling of them...guaranteed!) Highly recommended! Bitek (774) - Warszawa, POLAND - OCT 14, 2017
Dominują przyprawy, w tle nieco słodowości i owocków. Średnio treściwe, przyjemnie słodkawe. Goryczka średnia do niskiej, wysokie, musujące wysycenie.

Aromat przypraw, kwiatowy, witbierowy, belgijskie drożdże, nawet przyjemny. W smaku to samo, do tego goryczkowo-alkoholowy. Piana typowo belgijska - obfita, grubopęcherzykowa. Wysycenie duże, ale jak na belgijskie ale to nie ekstremalne. Kolor jasny.
