COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Chimay Tripel, with its typical golden colour, its slightly hazy appearance and its fine head is especially characterised by its aroma which results from an agreeable combination of fresh hops and yeast. The beer’s flavour, as sensed in the mouth, comes from the smell of hops: above all it is the fruity notes of muscat and raisins that give this beer a particularly attractive aroma. The aroma complements the touch of bitterness. There is no acidity, but an after-bitterness which melts in the mouth. This top fermented Trappist beer, refermented in the bottle, is not pasteurised.
Ingredients: Water, malted barley, wheat starch, sugar, hop extract and yeast. See Protz (beer-pages.com/protz/features/chimay.htm) and John White (www.whitebeertravels.co.uk/chimay.html)

UPDATED: JUL 15, 2014 Fortunately a white label does not indicate wheat starch in the bottle, but I think a very decent content. This triple looks definitely fine in hazy & light amber color, hoppy nose, full body, thick texture and surprisingly nice bitter palate. [email protected]

Pours orange from the bottle with a foamy, towering white head that lingers. Aroma is yeasty with a bit of spice and wet rag. Taste is mildly bitter, full of clove and nutmeg. Quite dry .. almost too dry. A touch of sugar in the aftertaste.. Carbonation is prickly and stable. Overall, quite nice if no longer exceptional, but my least favorite of the 3 Chimay brews.

Blijft een bier van grote klasse! En dan ook nog een uitzonderlijke prijs-kwaliteit verhouding

GreenCat (233) - SLOVENIA - JAN 27, 2018
0,33 l bottle. Pours hazy golden yellow with big frothy white head. Aroma of malt, yeast, fruity (apricot), floral honey and spicy hop notes. Taste is medium sweet and medium bitter. Body is medium, texture creamy and carbonation on the lively side. Finish is long, herbal bitterness takes time to develop and lasts for a while. Very complex and drinkable.

Yeasty sharp and flowery. Some raisens and date profile as well. Lots of clove.Shows its stength well. Lovely texture. Not a bad beer at all but prefer my triples to be a bit more easy going and zesty.

From bottle in Belgian ale glass. Pours hazy almond with big, billowing, bottle-conditioned head that was tough to control. Aroma of raisin bread with a bit of sweetness in the finish blended with a soft touch of bitterness.
