Bottle. Huge pop but not a gusher. Hazy deep golden color, massive light tan ice cream cone head that settles quickly. Aroma of earthy brown bread dough. Taste is sweet raw malt, lightly spiced bread. Tasty. mcberko (17345) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - MAR 20, 2015
750mL bottle, pours a cloudy golden orange with a small head. Nose is oxidized, with cardboard, earthy notes and muddy yeast. Flavour isn’t quite as bad, but it’s certainly off, with loads of oxidation and cardboard. Can’t tell if this would’ve good when new. Drain pour as it is. brokensail (16440) - Dublin, California, USA - SEP 10, 2010
A: The pour is a golden copper/amber color with a fluffy off-white head.
S: Lots of sweet, light fruits in the nose--mostly apples and pears with a slight bit of spice to them. Sweet and bready malts and a bit of yeast.
T: The same pronounced fruitiness is present on the tongue. Great apple, pear, and maybe banana notes with a touch of spice and yeast. Really nice, actually.
M: The body is medium with a high level of carbonation that has a great feel to it.
D: I was not expecting much from this beer, but it was quite enjoyable. Light and easy to drink with good fruit character. bhensonb (15098) - Woodland, California, USA - JUN 6, 2009
Bomber from ericandersnavy. Thanks for another rare (to me anyway) brew! Pours a hazy apricot with a decent off-white head. Mild aromas of funk and citrus. Near medium body with fizzy carbonation. Flavor is mildly sweet malt, yeast spice, and light funk. Seems maltier than most biere de garde I can recall, but it drinks extremely well. Bottle - Vintage 2012 - Malty and a bit of chalk. Very carbonated and clear caramel. Light raisin, dried fruit and a bit of caramel sweetness. A little past its prime.

On tap poured a hazy orange with a small lasting light amber head. Aromas of carmel, spice and honey. Palate was light to medium bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of spice, straw, light carmel and light honey with a smooth dry lingering spice finish. Drake (13662) - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - APR 3, 2008
Bottle from soonah. Thanks! Pours a very orange and cloudy with a thin and quickly dissipating head. Aroma is yeast and citrus with maybe a little bit of grass thrown in. None of the maltiness this pretends to have in the aroma. But it looks malty! We’ll see shortly! Taste is caramel, cereal and honey. Sweet with a sour balance. Light and lively. Something seems to be a bit off in the body but overall a very nice beer. BeerandBlues2 (13216) - Escondido, California, USA - DEC 26, 2014
Bottle shared by Travlr. Pours clear amber with a large, frothy and rocky off-white head, long retention with good lacing. Aroma is toast and cookie malt, dates, light earthy hops and cellar notes. Flavor is sweet malt, light earthy hops and bitterness, cellar notes, dates and a sweet finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. bu11zeye (13029) - Frisco (Dallas), Texas, USA - JAN 24, 2009
(22oz. bottle, courtesy of ericandersnavy) Pours a hazy amber body with a small white head. Aroma of plastic, caramel, apple, florals, cinnamon, and light citrus. Flavor of hops (floral), plastic, apple, some honey, and caramel malt. Sammy (12105) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - NOV 27, 2008
Unknown abv, it certainly is above 6% and could be in the high 7% plus. Large off-white foamy head on medium yellow body. Some lace. Malty, and lightly spicey aroma, pleasant. Very easy mouthfeel and drinkable. I have had better of the style, yet still a better than average beer.
