COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A unique marriage between the English tradition of IPAs, the new American revolution of Imperial IPAs and the classic Belgian way of brewing. Houblon Chouffe, although very much hopped as it is, showcases the unique balance between a very strong IPA and a very special Belgian Tripel exclusively created for this ale (Big malty body, distinct dryness, expressive estery fruitiness). - IBU: 59, Original Gravity: 1092

Tap @Bette ølhus. Light hazy yellow. Floral citrus aromas. Fresh dry light touch compared to the alcoholic 9 %. Nothing less than a delicious brew.

330 ml bottle. Pours a hazy, dirty dark yellow with a large white head. The aroma is medium malty - sweetish grain, light caramel - and likewise lightly yeasty and hoppy, grassy and a little metallic. Medium to full body with a medium carbonation with a light sweetness and a medium bitterness that increase towards the warming alcoholic finish. The flavor starts malty with caramel and bready notes that are soon overpowered by a strong hoppy bitterness. Overall, nothing stands out in particular, but it is a very enjoyable beer.

Light amber. Spicy yeast, fruity esters, and caramel are at the center of this beer, with a bit of hops in the aroma. Full, sweetish taste that finishes with a dry, solid bitterness. The abv is completely hidden. Full body. Overall, a very good strong ale. This sample is not hoppy per se - it might be a bit dated - so it does not come across as an IPA hybrid, but the additional bitterness balances the tripel flavour very well, which is a little sweeter than usual. Now I just need to try a fresh sample.

Aroma of fine, spicy hops, some alcoholic sweetness too. Taste about the same, too much a tripel to really enjoy the noppyness. Mouthfeel rather thin.

Achetée au E-Center en Allemagne. Bière dorée au nez herbacée. Le houblon est très présent en bouche, très fruitée et amère. Bonne bière. Belle découverte.

Golden color. Highish carbonation. Intense aroma. Very hoppy and yeasty. Had some tropical fruit tones and some spices, yeast esters buried underneath it all. Smelled like a good mix of Trippel and IPA. Taste was spicy and hoppy, with some clear pine tones. There is a lot of sweetness, but it is hidden beneath a strong layer of bitterness, not just from the hops, but the spicy phenols as well. Some clove, nutmeg, pine, grass. Finish is quite intense, though the beer is overall quite balanced, in that everything is quite intense. It is challenging and pleasant at the same time. Very much what one would expect from a highly-hopped trippel. It’s a good beer, but might be too much. The alcohol come through, but I might just be sensitive to it. Definitely a one-and-done type deal.

Wow, this is excellent, this is one I will remember, so fine... A: lots of grapefruit, lots of tropical: ananas, papaya, mango, passion fruit, bit of grass, flowers, very bit of pine but at the same time you can smell the big sweetness of the belgian origin, the spiciness, the banana which differently then the classic la chouffe is just a remambrance, what I mean is that you can feel the chouffe base, you can feel is sweetness is pear apple and spicy aroma a bit but less the good chouffe banana. You can feel the american hops blend with the sweetness and spiciness of the Belgian beers, it is just the perfect mix for me that I love both americans hops and the estery, spicy, fruity sweet belgian strong ale characteristics, I also love the more sweet fruity tripels. Aroma is a 10. A; well a little bit golden than the classic la chouffe, this is not deep golden, this is a lighter golden colour, a little bit less head too but maybe I poured it wrong, altough the consistency of the head is classic belgian, less hazy too. You can feel the hops giving that translucency (don’t know how to explain that). Appereance is a 4 out of 5. Taste is... well simply excellent!. Sweetness and remambrance of the la Chouffe on the beginning, midpalate starts with the remambrance of the fruity esters and spices than at some point you have this awesome transistion to a more hoppy citrusy, big tropical, resiny, grassy taste, end is a development of that hop characteristic with warming alcohol presence. Lingering bitterness. That is a deserved 10 out of 10 on the taste. Palate maybe just a bit too much carbonation, light body, light sourness. 4 out of 5. Overall if you are accustomed to the bitterness level which is not to low altough blended with a belgian sweet base you need to try this. I changed my mind you just need to accustome your palate because this is an excellent beer and your missing a great experience. Cheers!
