COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A unique marriage between the English tradition of IPAs, the new American revolution of Imperial IPAs and the classic Belgian way of brewing. Houblon Chouffe, although very much hopped as it is, showcases the unique balance between a very strong IPA and a very special Belgian Tripel exclusively created for this ale (Big malty body, distinct dryness, expressive estery fruitiness). - IBU: 59, Original Gravity: 1092

750 mL bottle, "Best Before End 2009." Age or enjoy now? The may be not the right point to be considered cellared or new, but it may be my last big beer before vacation. I forget sometimes how deceptively light and golden the Belgian dubbel-tripel-quads are. Big rocky head. Beer is cloudy with visible floaty bits, which I never thought to see in a Tappist-based Belgian. Smell from the bottle is surprisingly grainy, just a whiff of hops. Grainy smell in my IPA tulip glass, too. A peak of foam sits about an inch above the rim like root beer float foam. Foam tastes a bit like an all-grain homebrewed IPA. Finally I can get down to the beer, and find the nice big, golden barleys of a true tripel. Hops are still present, but not to the level of a big American Pale Ale. Guess when this is around two years old, the hop sensation has migrated to the foam. Malt is light and smooth, but does carry the impression of alcohol that warns you to settle and don’t drink too much at once.

More Belgian ale than IIPA. More yeasty than citrus/fruity. Alcohol is pretty brutal. Texture - quite good.

Off white, creamy on top, big laced on the sides, huge and almost long lasting head. Beer is murky golden. Aroma is intense hoppy after exotic fruits, mango, orange and lemonade, yeasty, fresh, a hint of spice and coriander. Taste is full, semi sweet, malty, a bit sour and lots of bitter hops. Finish is long and intense. Texture is first like mineral water due the high carbonation but turns into a creamy pleasant sensation. While I’m not a fan of a higher carbonation this one is well integrated and not going on my nerves. Alcohol is well hidden. Magnificent beer but not kicking off my favorite Chimay triple from the throne.

Bottle from la superette à bières. Taste way more like triple than ipa, but it isn’t any of those.

Bottle. Clear golden brew with a huge white frothy head. High retention. The aroma is a compination of your regular Belgian Tripel and fruity hops. Feels natural and balanced. Medium body. Soft carbonation. The flavour front is malty with that usual Belgian yeast spiciness along. The mid taste is drier and more bitter. All the power of the hops takes the lead bat medium bitter citrusy finish. Hoppy aftertaste. Well done.

Bottle. A very nice balance of tripel style and somewhat hoppy ale style flavours.

Sampled at Boulevardia 2017. Comes a somewhat hazy gold with a decent white head. Aroma of malt, fruit, and yeast. Taste is yeast, citrus, and malt. More of a Belgian than an IPA. Interesting.

triple IPA de 9° con color dorado amarillento.Espuma blanca y consistente.
