The impact of homebrewers on the American craft beer industry has been immense. The comfort level and lack of inhibitors provided by a domestic brewing environment fosters a near limitless brand of experimentation, allowing homebrewers to push te beer envelope to its breaking point. Many of the professional brewing world’s best recipes--from West Coast IPAs to imperial stouts and even sours--began as homespun standouts so spectacular they had to be unleashed on the world in order to improve it.

With this in mind, each year we hold an American Homebrewers Association sanctioned homebrewing competition, the champion of which gets their recipe brewed and distributed nationwide by Stone. This year’s winner, Chris Banker, helped keep us grounded to our homebrewing roots by introducing flavors consistent with our regional apalate. His chocolate, cinnamon, nutmeg, chile pepper, and coffee-infused milk stout was built to mimic the flavors of Mexican hot chocolate, a beloved specialty from our neighbors to the sout, as our collaborators from Baja California, Cervezeria Insurgente, will attest. Layered with tiers of earthiness, spice, and roast, this creamy, semisweet blue ribbon beer confirms that the spirit of the American homebrewer is not only alive and kicking but thriving at an all-time high.

ABUSEDGOAT (2826) - California, USA - OCT 15, 2017
Black pour with a darker tan head. Aroma is coffee, chocolate, roast, caramel, chili. Medium to full bodied, chocolate and chili flavors dominate with a very light heat. Pretty nice.

Bottle, pours a blackncolor with small to medium off white head. Nose and flavor of cinnamon, pepper, hot chocolate, vanilla, coffee, and spicy earth. Finishes with more cinnamon and nutmeg. A nice dessert Beer in small doses

355ml bottle. Pours an opaque black with a medium, creamy, long lasting, tan head that laces nicely. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, dark chocolate, chili pepper, cinnamon and nutmeg. Sweet, spicy flavour of roasted malt, dark chocolate, vanilla, chili pepper, cinnamon, nutmeg and a hint of rye with a dry, bitter coffee finish. Medium to full body with a creamy, smooth, oily texture and soft carbonation. Delicious.

From tap at Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens, Berlin. Nearly black, very dark chestnut brown color with a tan head. Aroma of sweetish roasted malt - toffee, lots of chocolate, fudge, gingerbread, vanilla, hints of banana. Medium to full body with a medium sweetness and a light bitterness. Flavor of chocolate, hazelnut, caramel, raisins, some dark fruits, general sweetish roasted malts but never cloying, vanilla. Finish lightly sweet, overall very balanced, nice.

Beautiful, durable nougat colored foam. Aroma is light chocolate and cocoa. The taste varies over light chocolate, cinnamon, espresso, vanilla and a little bit of crisp chilli. It is a stout that is most sweet in its entirety, but a little burnt malt is tracked in the end. A really nice stout.

On tap at Dynamo. Pitch black with a brown head. Coffee, cinnamon and nutmeg. Spicy, aromatic. Alcohol is well hidden. Very good!

Vanilla latte coffee. Very smooth wth a pleasant Hint of chilli and nutmeg. Very moreish and hard to sip slowly and disappears too quickly

W aromacie piernik polany czekoladą. Dużo cynamonu i gałki. Dla niektórych pewnie za dużo. Ja się lekko przestraszyłem swoim wyborem. Jednak w miarę picia coraz bardziej mi się podoba. Takie nie za słodkie, piernikowe szaleństwo. Chili pojawiło się po kilku minutach; osiadło na przełyku i zaczęło robić robotę. Dużo się dzieje. Muszę kończyć, bo Mikołaj mi się ładuje na chatę przez okno na 4. piętrze.
