A classic Munich-helles style lager with the emphasis on complex malt flavors and low hop character - in accordance with the style. Brewed with 2-row pale and Caramel 60 malts and Saaz and Hallertau hops. This was the first American beer to certifiably pass the Bavarian Reinheitsgebot Purity Law of 1516.

Cloudy apricot pour with minimal white head, this Munich style lager has the appearance and taste of a zwickle. Smooth and malty with substantially more character than most lagers made in this country. I find it funny when some reviewers attribute tastes of adjuncts like corn to this lager as this is a true beer brewed according to the Reinheitsgebot. This means there is nothing in this beer but barley, hops, water and malt.

Found in my fathers cellar. Bottle aged two years. First american beer to get reinheitsgebot? Pours a cloudy yellow color with a minimal amount of acidic head. Smells like caramel. Most of the hops were gone and the beer was very cidery. Probabley too old but I can still see the merit of this beer. Held up pretty well over those years.

Bottle from BevMo. Medium golden in color upon pouring. Small foamy white head. Creamy aroma of malt and grains. Maybe a hint of acidity. Fairly flavorful. Some malt to go along with some grainy bitterness. A little hint of hops at the end. Not bad.

I thought this beer was average, not bad, though. It was slightly darker than a pale beer. It was nicely carbonated, but the beer did have a slightly bitter aftertaste. All in all, Id buy it again.

Pours a golden amber body with a modest white head. Nice sweet malty aroma with a touch of floral/grassy hops. Medium bodied, this has a light caramel and bready malt taste with just a hint of hop bitterness to balance it out. Not bad.

12 oz, gift from my gf from WI. Orange amber with very small white head. At first crisp lager aroma but when swirled sweet malt with alc aroma. Flavor of banana, malt, not bad. Med body, crisp and very slight chalkiness. Not bad, not great.

Bottle: The aroma is rather weak with some faint caramel, lemon, and maybe smoke. It pours a transparent golden-orange with a small white head. The flavor starts with some real faint caramel with some mild lemon and faint bitterness in the finish. The mouthfeel is a tad thin and watery. Not bad, just boring.

Rated 11/21/06: Good lager indeed, very filling and flavorful. Aroma is nothing to get excited over but its decent. Bright golden pour with a big white puffy head and lots and lots of lacing. Very full and thick mouthfeel (at least for a lager). Good malty flavor a touch of sweet grains along with some slight toastiness. Good choice for a lager, comparable to Leinenkugels Original only a bit better.
