Christoffel Robertus is a low-fermenting ruby-red beer, brewed in the Münchener-style. It is a malty, fresh beer with a light sweetness. The typical hopbitterness found in Blond, is very lightly present in Robertus. The use of an extensive amount of selected barley gives Robertus the special malty taste and aroma.

Bottle thanks to Steve. Pours dirty brown. Tan head. Nose/taste of powdery malt, wort, rubber tires and fruit. Something’s off. Medium body.

UPDATED: APR 7, 2017 I will have to re-rate again after I get another bottle. I think I got an old bottle like some of the other raters did. Dark cloudy brownish-red. Malty with some dried cherry flavor. Very flat. A lot of sediment. Tried enough to get the flavor but didn’t finish as it seemed off. I could tell that it probably would have been quite nice if fresh. Serving: Bottle (Flip top)

330ml swing-top bottle from Beers of Europe. Oh, yummy. Big malty sweetness. Nice body - light enough to be refreshing and easy to drink, yet thick enough to be chewy and satisfying. Nice hop nip in the finish, lingering pleasantly. Good range of malt and hops flavours - toffee and banana notes alongside, earthy, herby flavours. Some spice and light citric fruit. Mmmmm, what a beauty. Enjoyed this one very much!

Maybe a bad bottle, and the swing tops don’t hold out oxygen very well like corks or bottle caps do, so that might be why this was so disappointing. Brown color, not too appealing or unappetizing, just brown, very little carbonation which was probably a result of the oxygen. The taste was sickly sweet, like molasses, like it coated my tongue, I needed a glass of water to wash it down. Only tried it because it’s one of michael jacksons 500 classic beers.

Dark brown reddish color, pretty nice. Smell ok, but nothing special. Don’t really taste or smell much hops. Overall pretty average.

UPDATED: JUN 29, 2011 ( Swing top Bottle) Nice nose that’s both malty and aromaticly hoppy with perfume vibes. Not the type of beer to dissect , its just an easy to swill brown lager with nice qualities ; a rich , buttery roasty chocolate and caramel ,slightly floral hop notes. A bit salty on the bitter finish.

Hazy dark reddish brown with an off-white head. Aroma is sweet, malty, caramel and a little fruit. Flavor is medium sweet and moderate bitter. Dry and light bitter finish. 170407

Ruby-red colour. Also a bit fruity in the taste which fits the colour. Nice and hoppy.

Same bottle as pictured. Poured dark brown with small head. Aroma is of cherry and dark fruits. Taste is the same. Be careful when you pour as there may be a little yeast at the bottom of the bottle.
