COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
About 150 years ago, this dark style lager was first brewed in Munich, Germany. Our version is fairly dark in color, but don’t be afraid. It is a perfect example that dark beers are not always strong beers. The body is surprisingly mellow, and the alcohol content is a bit lower than most people might think. It has a wonderfully clean and roasty aroma. Hop bitterness levels are kept in line, but is has a noticeable hop flavor. Our Pious Monk Dunkel finishes crisp and clean as a lager should.

Pours a medium dark brown with and off white head. Very thin body with not much flavor at all. Rather plain and simple. Not bad but not good enough to remarkable.

Tap @ brewery. Hazy light brown with cream head and light lacing. Getting a lot of citric-ness in the nose. Not really my style but not actively bad.

Pours clear amber with a off-white head. Aroma has notes of malt, caramel, bread and floral. Taste is medium sweet and light bitter with a long malty, grainy, floral and grassy finish. Body is medium, texture is thin to oily, carbonation is soft.

On tap at the brewpub. A clear, brown beer topped by a dense, beige, finger thick head leaving lacing. Malty aroma with bread, some caramel and hints of pine cones. Mostly malty flavor too, rather dry, and with a decent bitterness. Some pine cones and grass too. Medium body and a nice carbonation level. Lovely bitterness in the finish. 150617
