COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
About 150 years ago, this dark style lager was first brewed in Munich, Germany. Our version is fairly dark in color, but don’t be afraid. It is a perfect example that dark beers are not always strong beers. The body is surprisingly mellow, and the alcohol content is a bit lower than most people might think. It has a wonderfully clean and roasty aroma. Hop bitterness levels are kept in line, but is has a noticeable hop flavor. Our Pious Monk Dunkel finishes crisp and clean as a lager should.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy orange with minimal white head. Aroma is pilsner malt, little bit of sweetness, no hop character. Taste is bready, malty, even a bit yeasty. Not my favorite, but not that bad.

Gift growler from the Kuba family - thanks! A thin and overly carmelized version of a local dunkel. Runs to the thin side on body and taste.

Solid Dunkel; but nothing stands out that would make me buy again really. One nice aspect is that it has a fuller mouthfeel than most in the style. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Toffee brown colored pour. Small off-white head. Some lacing left behind its quick demise. Malty aroma with some notes of roast and sulphur. Bitter taste, almost tart. Not fitting at all for the style. Some sweet malt notes buried under it. Not bad.

quite a nice brew and compares favorably with many recent craft creations. Although the pour is poor, the taste makes up for that with quite a favorable taste and unique. Would recommend strongly.
