Cask at Rushden Historical Transport Society Club. Dark brown with a tan wispy head. Aroma of Ovaltine, honey, oak and hazelnut with a bit of corn. Sweet-sour initial taste gives way to a bittersweet flavour in the finish. Medium body, slightly bitter aftertaste. More coffee, a bit of vinegar. Not bad.

On cask at Travellers Inn, Apperknowle - Deep black body, firm lacing white top. Smoky coffee and malts nose, long bitter sweet caramel taste and finish, notes of liquorice, bitter chocolate and blackcurrant along the way. Smooth mouthfeel, not a bad stout.

Cask handpull at the excellent Seven Stars, Bristol. Almost black, with an off white head. Very rich flavour - it has a mild liquorice and smokey treacle chocolate aroma. Very enjoyable!

Cask at the Solihull Camra beer festival 2012. Dark almost black pour with a thin bubbly tan head. Big peaty smoky aroma with a nice malty medium sweet flavour, but little bitterness and no chocolate or liquorice. This beer has a big aroma and I was expecting more behind it, but it wasnt there. However, its different enough to make me want another, so that must be a complement!

Cask at the Cambridge Blue, Cambridge on 6th September 2012. Black with pale brown foam ring and scant lacing. Coffee aroma with roastie malts. Rich roastiness in-mouth along with coffee and freshly-baked biscuits. Malty end with biscuit notes and coffee. Velvety and mildly textured mouthfeel. Superb.
