Definite smoke aroma and flavour. Poured dark with a slight frothy head. Smooth and clean to sip on. No aftertaste. Looking forward to enjoying more in the summer with a slow roasted rack of ribs.

Bire de couleur noire intense avec un couleur beige plus ou moins durable. Nez intense de fume et de malt grille. En bouche la fume prend beaucoup trop de place le malt grille est timide. Je nest pas vraiment ce style de bire scocth Ale fume...

bunget (942) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - NOV 4, 2013
650ml bottle. A very dark ruby body, medium latte head without any lacing a noticeable retention. Aroma of roasted malt, lightly on the peat side, licorice, dark chocolate, nuts and iodine. Taste of sweet smoky malt, again lightly on the peat side, nutty, some herbs, almost no bitterness, iodine. Light but enjoyable.

Bottle from the LCBO. Pours a very dark brown with a one finger beige head. Nose is chocolate and a peaty smoke. The smoke is definitely prominent but not overpowering. Sweet chocolate and caramel but also an underlying bitterness. Mouth is much thinner than the look would imply and maybe a litlle over carbonated. Quite nice overall,

Pour with a fine bubbled and cream coloured head. It also has clearish dark brown colour. Given the style of beer the aroma is fairly muted (from over-filtration i pressume). there is a hickcory and smoke aroma with hints of chocolate, nut and roast. On the palate is has a little bit of a creamy texture, but overall this is a watery brew and has more almonds and chocolate flavours than smoke and hickory that id expect given the style. If this beer was in a flight of smoked beers this one would be one of the more forgetful brews. Meh, okay beer but rather bland.

czar (8879) - Qubec, Quebec, CANADA - SEP 30, 2013
pours unclear dark brown with a small light beige head, soem retention and lacing. peat upfront, shy nutty and fruity toasted malts - then again maybe just overshadowed by peated malts, few roasted grains, earthiness, saltiness, almost some iodine, few woodsy notes. moderate carbonation, light body - tad weak, bold peaty-earthy finish. ok with barbecued merguez and steak, otherwise a tad too peated..

Strong scent of smoke and bbq. Pours near black with amber hues. Lighter body than expected but still substantial. Flavours of peaty scotch, caramel, malt and ribs. Great beer for sipping and would definitely buy again

Excellent dark pour with tan head. The smokey aroma is at first overwhelming, but settles nicely. Enjoyed this with a couple of smoked Porterhouse steaks and found it to be quite enhancing.
