A deep red beer with a slight haze under a thin brown head. The aroma is sweet malty with primery notes of caramel. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of caramel as well as lighter notes of burnt malt and smoke, leading to a dry end. joergen (29598) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - DEC 17, 2006
Clear orange brown coloured with a beige head.
Aroma of fruits and caramel with notes of smoke.
Flavour of fruits, caramel and smoke. Papsoe (25054) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - DEC 16, 2006
(Bottle 34,1 cl) Clear mahogany with a reddish hue and a beige head. Lightly burned, ashy nose. Medium body with both burned and smoked accents. Dry and lightly hoppy finish. The smokiness is only discreet and pleasant. 161206 fiulijn (21506) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - NOV 18, 2012

Dark mahogany color, not penetrated by light, with red hue; small sized creamy head. Nice aroma of peat and some oxidisation. The flavor seems to be affected more by the oxidisation; dark caramel too; correct bitterness. Pleasant but a bit messy.
UPDATED: JUL 5, 2004 Light brown; with 10% peated malt, this is a little unbalanced, in a Laphroaig kind of way, with big burning embers and underlying malts that fight to sustain the beer. If you've already numbed your palate a little bit, this is nice stuff, but could be a little overpowering otherwise.

Bottle - Roasted malts, peat and some chocolate. Jet black with a thin white head. Wow, all sweet peat, some smoke and some nice chocolaty malts. Although this is a peat BOMB, it is nicely balanced and doesn’t taste like I am sucking a barrel. I am a fan. kermis (14955) - The Hague / Amsterdam, NETHERLANDS - AUG 1, 2014
Bottle shared thanks to sic1314. Pours clear dark brown with a ring tan head, aroma of dark fruits, raisins, caramel, light smoke and peat. Flavourismoderate sweet and bitter. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Dogbrick (14300) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - JAN 3, 2015
Sample at the Badge-Whore Bowl (OSU vs AL) tasting on 01/01/2015. The beer is cola-colored with a medium thin off-white head that recedes gradually. Small patches of lacing. Aroma of smoked malt and chocolate. Medium body with flavors of peat malt, dark chocolate and earthy hops. The finish is smoky with a peaty malt aftertaste. Decent overall. Nice smokey nose, good mouthfeel, almost like Bamberg malt (Schenkerla) with spome acidic points, nice bitterness in the end, nice balance...much more interesting than Northumberland Sammy (12995) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 13, 2004
More roast than smoke, like a stout, Thats good. Much carbonation, however. New formulation? Some fruitiness and malt made it balanced.. Surprisingly enjoyable directly form them at the 2004 St. Lawrence fest.
