COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In centuries past, to ensure a plentiful crop, the Celts would donate a variety of malts for a community ale to please the Shony, a local water spirit. Sadly, the custom dictated that they throw it all in the ocean. Our traditional 80 Shilling Scottish-style ale is a robust brew with notes of sweet caramel and mellow roast--best enjoyed on land, not in the sea!

Taste: roasted grains, caramel malts, herbal, crisp finish. Semi sweet malt nose. Mahogany red hue, mostly clear, with a tan creamy head and some lattice of lace. Medium body.

Hazy, dark tea color with a carpeting off-white head. Muted, stewed fruit malty aroma. Malt-forward, sweetish, low bittering, straw, some woodiness and bandaids. Holds carbonation, slightly heavy body. Drinkable but disappointing. Craft Bar, on tap, Panama City.

At brewpub. Toffee, creamy, roasted, and slippery mouth feel. Sweet. Serving: Tap

Pours brown with a thick, full, off white head that settles slowly. I really didn’t get a whole lot of aroma. I happened to find bread and toffee. The taste is sweet and a bit tart. Toffee and nuts are most prevalent, with brown sugar, bread, earthy malts, and light floral hops as flavors that are detected as well. A light toffee is the aftertaste. This is light in body, with a thin texture, and with a softer carbonation. I wasn’t a fan of this, and it strikes me as rather boring.

This 12 oz bottle was sent to me by Strykzone. Thanks Dave. Pours amber to brown with a tan head and thick lacing rings. Nose is rich caramel malts with some light fruit. Medium to full in body with as almost oily mouth feel. Flavor runs to malts and the finish is sweet. Very tasty and quite enjoyable.

Dark copper to brown in color. Diminished head of light tan bubbles. Malty, meaty, earthy aromas. Sweet dark toffee start. Grainy breads in the middle. Just a hint fo herbal hops. Sweet finish. A strong amber. Simple. 4/14

Pour is a dark brown with some red highlights and almost no head at all. Aroma is a decent dark fruit with some brown sugar. Flavor is more dark sugar and dark fruit with an earthy malt finish. This was a flavorful Scottish ale boarding on German dopplebock territory. vanilla,

12 ounce bottle. Deep amber brown and opaque. A beige head leaves rich lacing. The aroma is of a Scottish ale and is rich to the nose. The flavor is also authentic and classic. A sweet maltiness. Sweet toffee and a dry bitterness seems to be an Americanization. Some fruit and a little floral, too. Toast and bread, almost fruit cake.

The beer pours brown with a beige head. The aroma has toffee, brown sugar, toast, candy and smoothness. It has a medium body with fairly soft carbonation. The taste mirrors the aims pretty much and is pretty decent.
