Aged 1 yr. Pours a deep dark brown with a mocha foam head that ends up hugging my glass. The Finest Hr has a rich aroma full oak, pleasant booze, vanilla, almost chocolate milk like, mild to medium notes of roasted dark sweet malts. In tasting I noticed a nice warming heat from the alcohol, medium vanilla, mild bitterness, defined sweet caramelized malts, and chocolate. The finish had a weak lingering bitterness, a soft acidic sweet malt taste, and a minor dryness from the alcohol. Overall this was a solid beverage with a great balance of flavor and surprisingly it was very drinkable. TheAlum (7164) - Aurora, Illinois, USA - APR 1, 2014
Bottle shared at Dunt’s Tasting (Chicago, IL). Pours a rich deep blackish hue, opaque with midnight ominous hues, a touch of brown glow on the bottom and edges. Brown head stays as a decent layer, sticks around and laces ok. Aromas are hot, firm oak and spirit, a bit carmelized and toasty, decent roast, touches of vanilla and warmth. A bit sticky, faint brown sugar, oak and coffee roast. Initial is firm and thicker bodied, a touch of soap, firm tannic oak and spirit. Vanilla, toffee and toast, caramel and sweetness. Middle shows a bit of body but it is a bit overdone. Some decent spirit, caramel and toffee, gentle bakers cocoa and chocolate. Backend is a bit fudgey, vanilla and spirit. Nice stuff. phaleslu (10104) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - MAR 30, 2014
100th rating for this beer. 2014 bottle, blue wax. Pours a deep brown color with amber highlights around the edges and a small beige head. Aroma of dark chocolate, syrup, soy, vanilla, oak, molasses, and whiskey. Flavor of chocolate, syrup, soy, vanilla, oak, brown sugar, a little bit of dark fruits (dates, mostly), and molasses. Medium-full bodied, with low to moderate carbonation and a chewy mouthfeel. Big, tasty imperial stout. Very well done. ryanfolty (2540) - Bourbon County, Minnesota, USA - MAR 27, 2014
March 24, 2014 - bottle at Churchill. Black pour with almost no head. Aroma was sweet, chocolate, wood and bourbon. Taste was consistent with the aroma. Some initial heat that moves quickly to the sweet chocolate and then finishes with woody alcohol. Super smooth going down and medium to full body. 2014 vintage. 2013 - 2 ounce pour. thin head, pretty oily and pretty much an oily very thick viscous beer in the glass
Huge roasted walnuts and chocolate milk nose
It has a barrel strength rye whiskey taste that starts mid-way through and lingers for a very long time. Shaved dark chocolate atop a million layer chocolate chip cookie is pretty much the overarching to this beer but honestly, the astringent, acid roastiness (not creamy at all) takes away from everything else. My teeth are chalky after each sip. Very boozy, dry and intensely roasted. Good but I wouldn’t seek it out again jredmond (8206) - New York, New York, USA - DEC 17, 2013
Backlog: Bottle I brought to CDBD Pt 1. Pours a black body with off white, brown lacing. Aroma is dark fruit, prunes, cocoa, light lactose, chocolate, and sweet espresso with extra packs of sugar. Mouthfeel is medium to full with a rich sweetness upfront, sour dark fruits, chocolate and cocoa follow. A little booze in the finish. jbeatty (1247) - New York, USA - NOV 17, 2013
2012 bottle, shared by quackus, 11/17/2013. Pours black, hazy light tan head swirling on the surface, thin ring of lacing. Aroma is rich toffee, chocolate, vanilla, bourbon - typical Lost Abbey notes à la Deliverance, Angel’s Share, etc. Taste is caramel, toffee, dark chocolate with full round bourbon finish, rich. Thick, chewy body. Delicious. crossovert (12666) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - NOV 17, 2013

Bottle shared by "hannont". Colour...basically black with a thin tan head. Nose...burnt sugar and soy sauce. Palate...thin, but smoky with burnt marshmallow and cotton candy. This covers the flavours for the most part. I was thinking there’d be more dimensions than this.
