Serving: Draft at the Distillery. It pours, well, black! Thin, light tan head. Burnt malt notes in the nose with a good bit of smoke and burnt wood. The flavor certainly highlights the ash part in two ways. Both the burnt notes and the wood side. Certainly thin enough to be drinkable but such a strange flavor that it isn’t one I want more than one of. pineypower (3327) - Ocean County, New Jersey, USA - JUL 28, 2014
Pours....well go figure, just about black with a small off white head. Aroma is of burnt toast, light smoky meat, licorice, pumpernickel bread and light bitterness. Taste is complex, burnt wood, pumpernickel, licorice root, light earthy notes, smoked wood, light syrup, grains, more burnt wood. Tasty Paincane (170) - Georgia, USA - APR 30, 2014

This one poured a very dark brown with a beige head. Aroma was of smoke, wood, and light roast. Falvor was similar, fairly dry, light smokey, somehwat interesting but still a little dull.

Bottle - thanks Homer! Pours dark black with a large creamy brown head that dissipates slowly with good lacing. Aroma is indeed ashy, roasted malts, coffee, burned paper. Flavor is light sweet, light plus bitter, quite ashy, including the acidity that goes with it. Lots of dark burned roasted malts. Finish is rather harshly bitter and acidic. Medium body, creamy mouthfeel. Points for originality for sure! markwise (5441) - North of Tampa, Florida, USA - MAR 29, 2014
On draft at Hunahpu Day. Pours a stout brown with a tan head. Nose is a bit of roast and baker’s chocolate with some big smoke, ash, and coal. Flavor is similar with smoke, ash, coal, and roast along with some yeast and bitterness. Light to medium in body and not my favorite, although I can see cooking with it and pairing it with something earthy maybe. daknole (11049) - Scottsdale, Arizona, USA - MAR 27, 2014
