Taster at RBWG 2014 grand tasting - thanks to the person who shared this! Dark brown color, near black, with a hue of red. Minimal khaki head. Loose fine dots of lace. Bourbon barrel in the nose, some dark fruit. Get some milk chocolate, vanilla. Moderate bitter taste, some sweet. Light warmth, but no burn or bite - hides alcohol well. Surprisingly, tastes a bit older than I expected for something that I know is less than a year old. Surprisingly smooth, though, too. Very light carbonation, kind of creamy, and a bigger body. More dry finish. Impressive 15% imperial stout, glad for the chance to have tried this. SudsMcDuff (8468) - .....Manchester United.........., Texas, USA - FEB 1, 2014
second time having this .. pours a deep almond skin .. mild foam .. . light chocolate .. not getting much barrel .. very subtle beer, underwhelming .. . . and trust me. I drink A LOT of Pedialyte!! 5000 (6862) - Hardened Liver, Washington, USA - JAN 31, 2014
Bottle: Pitch black, brownish head, foamy, fairly nice lacing. Sweet chocolate and bourbon barrel aging on the nose. Very tasty! Sweet chocolate covered cherries right up front, with bits of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, and more chocolate. Whoa, this is a decadent beer! A little ashy on the backside, otherwise loads of chocolate, sweet roast, a bit of that chocolate covered cherry liquor. This is a rich, decadent Imperial Stout that is loaded with cocoa and chocolate covered cherries. This is really a big rich chocolate covered cherry sort of beer. Never would have guessed it to be 15%. Too easy, and too dangerous to drink. Low hops, high sweetness, big candy bar and chocolate covered cherry factor. This is beer? Thanks for the bottle Matt! jkwood04 (5463) - Connecticut, USA - JAN 12, 2014
750ml bottle in a tulip. Pours black with a tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, dark chocolate, oak and bourbon and vanilla, plus some cherries that blend in well. Flavor the same with a good blend of a big, sweet imperial stout and the oak and cherries. Thick texture. A good beer. Reynolds314 (3470) - Connecticut, USA - JAN 11, 2014
Wow this is much better then I had thought. Tastes like a rich decadent dark chocolate covered cherry. Very sweet but not cloying for some reason. Reminds me of hunahpu without the cinnamon or chili and with added cherry.

12/26/13. 750mL bottle (from Grassroots back when this came out) shared at the QC tasting. Black pour with a thick tan head that laces okay. Lots of chocolate in the aroma, touches of cherry and other dark fruits, bourbon, wood, and more. Wonderful flavor, of course it is a touch sweet, with bourbon, cherry and dark fruits, chocolate, some coffee/ash/roasted malts, and more. ABV is hidden surprisingly well. Tasty. cbfobes (2885) - Quad Cities, Illinois, USA - DEC 31, 2013
Bottle shared by drowland, pours pitch black with a thick brown head and a little bit of lacing, the aroma is full of dark chocolate mixed in with cherries and some of the heat from the bourbon too, the flavor is insane, really sweet? Of course, it is what it is, tons of cherry with dark fruit and chocolate with some vanilla in the finish, the bourbon and abv is there, and you can taste it for sure, one heck of a big beer, for some reason I’m a sucker for these. suprchunk (2994) - Crestview, Florida, USA - DEC 24, 2013
Opaque black pour. No light getting through this oil sludge. Big head, reminiscent of crema, that quickly falls. Little bit of lacing left behind. Alcohol up front. Follow that up with figs, chocolate, molasses, malt, vanilla. Thick mouthfeel with a slight bitterness-from the cherries I would imagine. A melange of chocolate, sour cherries, malt, sugar, coffee. Amazing. Not sure if I get the chocolate covered cherry. But I do get an awesome stout with a nice cherry background and a very pronounced chocolate presence. Excellent. tricyclist (1125) - Florida, USA - DEC 15, 2013
I wanted to like this... Badly... But I just can’t get into it. Maybe it needs to warm up. I dunno. Pours deep dark and murky with a medium head that dissipates quickly. Flavor is so sweet it’s unbearable. Maybe time in the bottle could help. Seriously, I get super ripe cherries and chocolate.. Not a ton of barrel presence. Also may need to warm up for that to reduce the sharpness. Mouth is almost sugar water... It’s seriously not my thing. I wish it was... Girlfriend says it tastes like a dirty chocolate factory...
