Bottle in Glenwood Springs hotel. Thanks to markwise. Pours a murky orangish brown appearance with a thin brown head. Grape, plum, raisin, caramel, maraschino cherry nose that is somewhat oxidized. Moderate high sweetness. A little nutty with toffee, chocolate, and a bit of roast. A bit boozy on the finish but not bad. Probably past its prime but still drinking pretty good. Rich caramel, brown sugar, dates, light figs, coconut, some oak, vanilla, and nutty aroma. Taste is rich caramel, raisins, coconut, toasted sugars, some butterscotch, oxidized, and figs with a touch of heat on the backend. Medium body with soft carbonation. 750ml bottle. HEavily oxidized but much better than the roosevelt i tried it next to. Very boozy and sweet.

Bottle: Thanks, Corbet. Muddy copper-brown with virtually no head on top... Thin, khaki collar. Big grape & prune aroma, lots of dark fruitiness with hints of anise, black licorice. Caramel liqueur, a touch of toffee, a little bit of astringent sweetness. Taste has a strong, dirty earth flavor with a surprising around of floral bitterness, especially for an "English" barley wine. Lots more Star anise on the palate. Quite boozy, too; very warming. Sticky, semi-sweet caramel leads into a finish of toasted bread, mild toffee, sweet malt, & a vapid bitterness. Sticky mouth coating. A good barley wine, albeit a strange one. Bottle at Beecher Blind Beer Bash. Lots of alcohol in the nose with a light chocolate component as well. Taste is similar with a smooth alcohol warming, almost a note of vanilla, although this was not the barrel aged version. Very enjoyable. ABV partially hidden.
Unusual aroma with a suggestion of rum and brandy. Soft fruits, light malts, and alcohol esters dominate the flavor.

750ml bottle thanks to toby. Pours out a dark amber topped with a small head. Nose is sweet syrup molasses maple and some hop notes. Taste is as the nose with lots of sweet maple syrup and some heat.
