In short: A rich, creamy, syrupy mountain of caramel and stuff. Dessert beer.dEnk (4200) - Den Haag, NETHERLANDS - NOV 14, 2013
How: Bottle shared at post-Hill Farmstead FoFA 2013.
The look: Cloudy brown-burgundy body topped by a persistent small beige head.
In long: Nose is rich caramelized malts with toasted notes. In mouth the beer has an enormous body, a creamy texture and enough carbonation to help drinkability. Taste is what you’d expect from a monster like this. It is very sweet (d’uh), lots of caramel, some raisins, mixed nuts, tree bark, leafy hops that somehow manage to pierce through. Alcohol relatively well hidden. At least this one was rich and creamy, not just sugars and more sugars. Better than I thought it would be, but then again I didn’t try to drink a full bottle. My rating #5900, I remember my days before signing up to ratebeer, back when the dishes and laundry were getting done… different times…
Bottle @ Borefs, shared by don’t know who, but thanks! Aroma is winey barrel, big big malt, toffee, caramel, liquorice and more. Flavour is really sweet malty caramel, some wine notes, vanilla toffee, etc etc. LRAB arminjewell (9727) - East Lansing, Michigan, USA - NOV 4, 2013
Pour out of 750 mL bottle, side by side with the Cognac version, Darkness Day 2012. Dark reddish brown pour with off white head, aroma brought notes of dark cocoa, roast, coffee, some slight earthy tones, into lots of dark fruits, figs, plums into molasses, toffee, very rich. Taste is a mix of rich dark fruits, dark cocoa, lots of fig, raisin, plum, hints of earth, some slight booze but not bad, finishing sweet, slightly spicy. The BA one beat this one, but this is a very tasty beer on its own. jmagnus87 (3302) - Rockford, Illinois, USA - OCT 15, 2013

On tap this has a nice rich caramel malt aroma and flavor,it pours a light to medium brown with small tan head and is heavy on the malts and alcohol with a lot of bitters to it.This one should sit for about a year and then it would bring down the heat and be better.CHEERS! Bottle at Copenhagen Beer Celebration 2012. Pours a clear tawny with a beige head. Quite sweet with some bitterness. Malty aromas wtih some aromas of coco nut and dried fruits. Hints of toffee. Also aromas of alcohol. Medium to full bodied. Soft carbonation. Dry finish. ineedbeer (2297) - Oakland, California, USA - APR 7, 2013
Aroma has a nice rich caramel malt aroma with some toffee and treacle. Some faint smokiness is also present in the aroma. Dried fruit is light but present with raisin being lost prevalent.
Pours light brown with some burnt amber and a small but persistent light tan head. Very faint lacing with a medium sized head.
Flavor is fairly malty with lots of caramel and some dark fruit. The bitterness is a bit strong and slightly harsh and the alcohol spice is also over powering.
Mouthfeel is medium full to full bodies with medium carbonation. Medium astringency and moderate alcohol heat.
Overall the beer is decent but it's a but hot with a rather one dimensional malt character. The hop bitterness is a bit unpleasant as well.
