Draught. Vanilla aroma. Seems a little oxidised. Black colour. No head. The flavour is sweet with some vanilla. Some alcohol to balance. A bit too boozy. rlgk (18843) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - MAY 12, 2012

750 ml bottle shared by TheAlum- thanks again, Adam! Pours a deep brown with some reddish highlights and a small beige head. Notes of caramel, dark and dried fruits, nuts, earthy hops, and toasted brown sugar. Medium-bodied, with a sweet, dry, malty mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. 13% ABV is apparent but doesn’t overwhelm. Very nice. TheAlum (7164) - Aurora, Illinois, USA - APR 29, 2012
Bottle shared my me at Dark Lord Day 2012 (Munster, IN). Pours a rich garnet ruby brown hue, offering sweet toffee, caramel, and toast. Dustings of fruit, gentle marmalade, cherry, and zest. Sweetness grows, gentle toast, some toffee. Some earthy elements. Initial is fuller bodied, offering toffee, toast, and caramel. A quick heat element comes into the fold, dry spice, yeast, and toffee. Touches of brown sugar, fruit elements, and marmalade. Touches of dry hops, earth into the backend. Middle is the sweet factor, sticky toffee and caramel, mellow fruit. Backend dries it out quickly, with toast and dry rich earthy and floral hops, firm spice, and touches of dried fruit. Gets dry and hot, but still enjoyable, some age might do this well and make the elements bleed into each other more. Firm, dry finish with touche of spice and heat. Solid flavorful Barleywine, if a bit hot and character ridden.

Pours a deep chestnut brown with light amber hints around the edges underneath a small, thick tan head.
Aroma is very sweet with some red apples, caramel malts and molasses. There are hints of dark fruits, fig and plums, with some tobacco and leather that I’ve come to expect from certain CCB beers.
Taste is sweet but it has a more abrasive kick than I got from the aroma. There are some caramel malts and candied apples but the finish is really boozy and the alcohol certainly shows with a burn that lingers with an abrasive bitterness as well.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied and smooth with a combo of caramelized sugar and alcohol lingering on the palate.
I like this beer much better than the Roosevelt. I absolutely think this will be better in a year or so as the alcohol really burns. Really nice. Dfonorow (2318) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - APR 17, 2012
Bottle share, thanks guys. Pour is translucent mahogany with an extremely thin white head. Very fruity aroma with some strange notes of burnt toast and toffee. Flavor is of sweet fruity malts, toffee, and alcohol. Most of the booze is in the finish but the sweetness balances it out nicely. michael-pollack (4959) - King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 14, 2012
750ml Bottle: Got in trade from biggsbowler; THANKS Randall. Sweet, complex aroma of malt, vanilla, Bourbon, oak, slight maple sugar, brown sugar, candi-sugar, toffee, and a hint of nuts. Poured brown in color with a small, fizzy, tan/beige head that greatly diminished but lasted throughout as a film on top of the beer, as well as around the edges. Opaque. Sparkling. Flavor is medium sweet and slightly bitter. Tastes of malt, candi-sugar, light bittering hops, burnt caramel, slight marzipan, and some nuts. Medium body. Creamy, then lightly dry texture. Soft to average carbonation. Medium sweet, medium bitter, malt, hop, toasted caramel, burnt caramel, finish is slightly dry. 13%ABV is completely hidden throughout. dchmela (3088) - Orlando, Florida, USA - MAR 24, 2012
Thanks to Lee for the bottle. Muddy brown pour with little to no head. Thick malty taste with lots of toffee, caramel, cherry and other dark fruits popping up at times. Aroma has lots of the dark fruits and caramel. Real tasty sipper. 50belair (3697) - Florida, USA - MAR 21, 2012
