COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A collaborative beer produced by Terrapin Beer Co. and Cigar City Brewing, two innovative breweries in the deep South. We decided to make a beer that will bring to mind a Southern staple, pecan pie. Pecans were first introduced to colonists by the Algonquin Indians. They referred to the nut as pakan or paccan, which means "a nut so hard that is ha to be cracked with a stone." The two breweries agreed that a malty, dark lager would be a great canvas for such a Southern tradition, graciously slathering heaps of Munich malt and other specialty grains to emulate a portrait of Southern hospitality, the likes of which could conquer any sweet tooth.

And just a reminder, it’s pronounced puh-CON, not PEE-can!

Bomber. Pours a rich dark color with a nice brown tight head. Nose is sweet, nutty and malty. Taste is very sweet with vanilla and nutty flavors and alcohol easily appreciated. Finish is sweet with lingering vanilla and nuts. Flavorful and delicious, maybe tad too sweet. Quaff Score 8 / 10

Pours brown with a tan head and aroma of pecans, vanilla, and malt. Taste is sweet and delicious, a lot vanilla comes through nicely with the pecans, caramel, malt, and toffee with a sweet, vanilla finish. Tasty and enjoyable doppelbock, great for the style with nice rich vanilla

Pours a warm dark-chocolate brown with a thick, though effervescent, tan head. Syrupy aroma has a strong overtone of molasses and hints of coffee, toffee and caramel. Bold, syrupy flavor is quite sweet, almost too sweet, with notes of chocolate, caramel, molasses, toffee and pecan. Texture is VERY thick and viscous, although fizz leaves a tad to be desired. Overall, satisfying and tasty. I love collaborations.

Bottle share thanks to DrewFace! Aroma is sweet, vanilla, maybe nutty. Taste is all vanilla up front, get some nuttiness in the finish. Defiantly sweet, good in small doses.

Pours a dark clear brown color with big off white head. Big vanilla aroma, nutty character, malty. Huge vanilla flavor in the flavor, followed by some dark malt character and then lots of nutty character. Like a lighter bodies but brown ale.

Bottle shared by scotchzi! Pours a translucent dark brown with thin tan head that leaves moderate lace. Aroma is nutty, earthy wood, hint of sweetness, and lager yeast. Taste is dead on pecan pie, wow, nice nutty sweetness that’s not over powering on the caramel. Nicely done.

pretty decent dopplebock, though you really only got the pecans after it warmed up a bit. pretty tasty then, not too bad of a alcohol burn, and the vanilla blended nicely.

After it warms a bit, the aroma and flavor both come out. Pleasantly sweet with a subtle pecan flavor. Nice thickness in the palate as well.

Draft at CCB. Clear deep brown pour with a bubbly white head. Aroma of toasted pecan sweetness, chocolate, vanilla, butter toasted bread, toffee and molasses. Thick body with the above mentioned flavor with a smooth sweet ending. Damn fine beer, really surprised by this one.
