Cloudy amber beer. Little suddy white head. Marmalade hop nose. Softish palate, a little syrupy. Moderate carbonation. Rich marmalade orange and grapefruit hops, not that bitter but with loads of depth. Spicy. Good malt base, juicy toffee caramel. Finishes with well integrated aniseed alcohol. Lingering spicy aftertaste. Very drinkable and very moorish. As much barleywine as DIPA. Sumptuous.

From notes. First reviewed 6/19/2010. Poured from a 750 mL bottle into a tulip. Out of the bottle, the pour is a cloudy amber color, with touches of copper around the edges. A fluffly white head gradually subsides and leaves a thin layer and a ring around the glass. Some sticky lace reminds me of where this beer has been. Very aromatic. Strong toffee malt notes. Grapefruit, pineapple, and apricot citrus aroma, some herbal notes in the nose as well. The flavor starts and stays sweet the whole way through, but not cloying at all. Toffee and a bit of honey provide the steady sweet malt presence. A great variety of pineapple, grapefruit, herbal, and pine hops. The pine blends with a cedar, aged flavor, which helps close out the taste amazingly well. The aftertaste is reminiscent of the hop varieties, but a soft sweetness is also present. Huge taste. Strong creamy feel, it is actually creamier than the medium carbonation would let on. Lots of hop oil residue. Very smooth. I absolutely loved this the first time I had it, maybe a little bit less in subsequent bottles. Even though I normally connect with west coast hop bombs, I enjoyed this huge, sweet, fruity DIPA.

Bottle from Cesar - thanks! Pours a clear and light caramel with a red tinge and a slick of white foam. Aroma is dominated by sweet malt, faded hops, perhaps some remnant of pine, maybe some caramel and perhaps raisin, and a sweet, sugary finish. Taste is very sweet malt with some caramel, a slight but of hop bitterness, and a honey sweetness into the finish. Presents as a very sweet but enjoyable barley wine.

When fresh, it was super sweet with a decent hop nose. Now, it drinks like an English barleywine. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Entering old-rates. Bottle 75cl.

Bottle courtesy of northernbrews. Aroma is overly sweet malt, with a lot of papery/cardboard oxidation. Unfortunately the flavor is the same.

paultheguru (644) - Parker, Colorado, USA - NOV 25, 2011
Tawn in color, off white head. Big hop aroma, with a huge sharpness to the nose, mostly pine. Some solid, rich malt providing a nice backdrop. Balance was off to me, almost had a barleywine setup to me.

Bottle with doodler. Thanks a bunch! Orangish, clear appearance with a damn tan head. Dull hoppy, caramel malty aroma. A bit spicy, caramel, toffee malty, dull spicy hoppy flavor. Not bad.

Ratman197 (14978) - Arvada, Colorado, USA - OCT 7, 2011
750 ml bottle courtesy of Doodler (thanks Scott) poured a clear orange amber with a small lingering amber head. Aromas of carmel, earthiness, orange zest, light grapefruit and light pine. Palate was medium bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of carmel, earthiness, orange zest, pink grapefuit and pine with a smooth dry bitter lingering citrus finish.
