Original 2013 750ml bottle. Pours nearly pitch black in color and topped by a small tan colored layer of foam that settles in quickly to a thin film and leaves spotty lacing around the glass. The aroma shows notes of dark chocolate, raspberries, dark fruit that resembles cherry, tawny port and old oak over a dark roasted and caramel malt base. Smells like chocolate covered raspberries. The flavor follows suit with rich raspberries, dark chocolate, toasted caramel, cherries and dark fruits from the Port barrels with some balancing bitterness to cut sweetness from the dark roasted malts. Not real astringency like you could typically find from raspberries which is nice. Nearly full bodied and smooth with soft carbonation that leads to a dark chocolate covered raspberry finish. Drinks more like a dark fruit beer than a stout with subtle nuances from the Port barrels. This is very interesting and quite tasty with the rich raspberry flavor. This bottle has held up well. Solid stuff. RRistow12 (980) - Lewis Center, Ohio, USA - JAN 1, 2018
Tasted from bottle. Pours black with light brown head. Aroma of cocoa and berries. Taste is huge raspberries along with port and dark chocolate. Taste like a raspberry truffle. Pretty interesting well done stout.

Tap at CCB. Pours thick and black with little head. Raspberries dominate the aroma with little hints of the port barrel peaking through. Big rich thick roasted grain body, with a tart berry balance. Not much barrel cutting through, but really nice. VintageWineGuy (2) - - NOV 4, 2017 does not count
UPDATED: NOV 4, 2017 It's back? Batch 6 redux. Last time I had it it was out of the cellar. This time on tap just released. Raspberry tart with stoutly backbone. Almost sharp, but good. The berries and port barrel make it unlike rich bourbon aged versions.

750 ml bottle poured into a brandy snifter. The beer is a dark brown to black with a khaki head of foam. The aroma has some prune and raisin notes, but there is a major raspberry character there as well. Raspberry sweetness comes through beautifully. Some chocolate and barrel notes play secondary roles. Big body and moderate carbonation. hopdog (13249) - Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 10, 2015
750ml bottle. Poured a black color with a smaller sized head. Could smell the raspberries as it was opened and poured. Raspberries, chocolate, roast, fruity, earthy and some wood. Raspberries my favorite fruit in a beer and this one is aging nicely. Benzai (16924) - Oirschot, THE NETHERLANDS, NETHERLANDS - OCT 29, 2015
Bottle @ weekly tasting shared with Dutchdrebus. Opaque black color, average to medium sized quite quickly diminishing brown head. Aroma is malts, huge port and dark fruits, some alcohol, roast and wood. Taste malts, clearly raspberries in the flavor, roasted malts in the background, again heavy on the port and wood. Sweetish, with tart influences of grapepeel, although I guess it originates from the raspberry in this case, but that’s what it reminds me of. I was gonna say there’s also a slight bitter touch to it, but it has disappeared completely and the tart flavors are most dominant overall. In the end, I think this is quite a nice exemple of a blend between a RIS and a fruit, but it’s just not what I like. Too bad, not my thing, but it’s a daring and impressive brew. Bottle at benzai. Black colour with a medium to large light brown head. Smells very sweet, appelstroop, wood, raisins, raspberry, red fruits, slightly boozy. Tastes raspberry, sweet, appelstroop, raisins. Thick body, soft carbo. Love the raspberry character, but not a huge fan of the appelstroop part.
Weird thing is: great beer if it’s in a 33cl bottle shared with 4 friends, but it almost becomes a punishment to drink a 75cl bottle with only 2 people. Good in small quantities. Rated like I only had a small quantity. vyvvy (6835) - St. Louis, Missouri, USA - OCT 26, 2015
Pours dark brown with a tan head. The aroma has chocolate, port, berries, licorice and molasses. It has a full rich body with soft carbonation. The flavor starts with molasses, raspberries, chocolate, soy and alcohol. The finish has some earthy hops, but lots of the fruit and port up front. Really nice imperial stout.
