Bottle from an IP trade, shared at the satellite 10K tasting CBC Clerko, 19/08/14. Pitch black with a dirty tan head that retains well - this beer looks the bollocks. Nose is big roast, sticky dark toffee, chocolate dipped raspberries, light spice, booze, faint smoke, rich chocolate fumes. Taste comprises rich chocolate raspberries, port notes, decadent chocolate sauce, toffee fudge, woody port tinge. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, lightly warming booze in the close. Solid impy, great flavours, rich and vibrant, does as it says on the tin and drinks well below the ABV.

Bottle share at the satellite 10k tasting at the craft clerko. Thanks Colin. Aroma is big liquorice, caramel and vanilla, quite sweet, some wood. Viscous dark caramel colour with a loose tan head. Flavour is tangy raspberry jam, caramel sweet, vanilla, caramel, woody. A bit black forest gateau. Palate is full and sticky, smooth and dryish finish. Long lingering raspberry jam. Really nice.

Scopey (14778) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - AUG 19, 2014
Bottle big thanks to Colin. It pours filthy jet black with a thick tan head. The nose is rich roast, fresh raspberry, dark chocolate, earth, gateaux, espresso coffee, wood and toasted coconut. The taste is rich roast, cocoa, red berry, mild acidity, jammy, pepper, toast, light warmth (but nowhere near 11%), vinous, wood and fruit yoghurt with a smooth, roasty finish. Medium-full body, fine carbonation and slick mouth-feel. Hides abv very well. Fruity and dangerously drinkable.

Bottle... Wayne Wambles-black pour with a brief, creamy, tan head. The nose furnishes heaps of berries, brownie brittle and dark chocolate creme. Medium to full-bodied with a lightly creamy mouthfeel and soft carbonation. The flavor is tart, fruity and accompanied by deep roastiness and a modest measure of of bitterness. This is not at all overly sweet, but it’s already displaying some unfortunate, cardboard-like oxidation. Finishes silky, fruity and tangy.

Had thanks to Prazak and the Rev. Poured into a sniffer. Color is dark with light head. Chocolate comes through nicely and port wine comes through ever so lightly. Really smooth.

750ml bottle. Fruit and cocoa in the smell. Flavor is heavy oxidation and tart almost infected tasting raspberry.

750 at Jester King with Taylor Stephen and Dina. Pours black with smaller cream brown head. Aroma is authentic raspberry, smooth roasted malt that serves as a base for the beer instead of the main attraction. Taste is nice smooth huge full bodied malt, mild cocoa, big raspberry and almost cherry. Such a great example of the raspberry stout style, but just not my favorite style.

Steve_0 (3745) - Denver, Colorado, USA - JUN 14, 2014
Bottle at Jester King with Friends. Pour is deep black, viscous appearance with a frothy brown head and great lacing. Chocolate dipped raspberries, deep cocoa, roasted malt, graham crackers, vanilla, and red berries in the aroma. Taste is dark rich chocolate, tangy berries, roasty, vanilla beans, coffe grounds, light smoke, and strawberry skins with a tangy finish. Thick mouthfeel with soft carbonation. Really nice decadent stout. Like chocolate covered strawberries for dessert.

UPDATED: JAN 31, 2015 Bottle thanks to T $. Nose is fruity. Pitch black pour with minimal head. Taste is a fruity explosion but slightly astringent. Overall a very nice beer but seems a bit overdone. Semi sweet and a touch sticky on the lips. Had again a year later. Fruitiness is still there and very complimentary, not overdone. No astringency and a great beer still, maybe better than fresh.
