Bottle shared during the satellite Travlr 10K tasting at CBC Clerkenwell - London. Many thanks to C-Note for this CC beast. Pours oily black with a bubbly brown head. The aroma is heavy with rich roasted malts, dried raspberries and dense chocolate. Medium to big sweet flavor with pronounced baking cocoa, bitter burnt wood, roasted malts, charcoal, raspberry seeds, dried fruit leather raspberry. Full bodied with fine carbonation and chewy mouthfeel. Lightly warming on the finish with more rich chocolate and decadent, ripe raspberry. Well balanced and not overly hefty. Wonderful.

Bottle from an IP trade, shared at the satellite 10K tasting CBC Clerko, 19/08/14. Pitch black with a dirty tan head that retains well - this beer looks the bollocks. Nose is big roast, sticky dark toffee, chocolate dipped raspberries, light spice, booze, faint smoke, rich chocolate fumes. Taste comprises rich chocolate raspberries, port notes, decadent chocolate sauce, toffee fudge, woody port tinge. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, lightly warming booze in the close. Solid impy, great flavours, rich and vibrant, does as it says on the tin and drinks well below the ABV.

On tap @ 38 Degrees/The Full Pint 6th. Black pour with a small tan head. Nose is ash and raspberries. Mild port/wine notes, lots of roast, and some chocolate. Maybe a touch of grass. Light tartness from the berries and roast on the palate. Lots of raspberry, some ash, and chocolate. Earthy bitterness, some grass, and very subtle barrel/wine.

Benzai (15336) - Oirschot, THE NETHERLANDS, NETHERLANDS - OCT 29, 2015
Bottle @ weekly tasting shared with Dutchdrebus. Opaque black color, average to medium sized quite quickly diminishing brown head. Aroma is malts, huge port and dark fruits, some alcohol, roast and wood. Taste malts, clearly raspberries in the flavor, roasted malts in the background, again heavy on the port and wood. Sweetish, with tart influences of grapepeel, although I guess it originates from the raspberry in this case, but thats what it reminds me of. I was gonna say theres also a slight bitter touch to it, but it has disappeared completely and the tart flavors are most dominant overall. In the end, I think this is quite a nice exemple of a blend between a RIS and a fruit, but its just not what I like. Too bad, not my thing, but its a daring and impressive brew.

Scopey (14253) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - AUG 19, 2014
Bottle big thanks to Colin. It pours filthy jet black with a thick tan head. The nose is rich roast, fresh raspberry, dark chocolate, earth, gateaux, espresso coffee, wood and toasted coconut. The taste is rich roast, cocoa, red berry, mild acidity, jammy, pepper, toast, light warmth (but nowhere near 11%), vinous, wood and fruit yoghurt with a smooth, roasty finish. Medium-full body, fine carbonation and slick mouth-feel. Hides abv very well. Fruity and dangerously drinkable.
