Almost black pour. Small tan head. Plenty of lacing. Huge malty bourbony aroma. Taste is the same. Awesome malt and bourbon.

Bottle shared by drowland for our xmas eve get together, pours a very dark brown with a red hue in the liht and a thin tan head the aroma has a nice sweetness of dark malt with just a touch of bourbon coming through, the flavor has a good amount of oak on the front end with some bourbon and chocolate in the finish, nice full mouthfeel, awesome.

Bottle thanks to Eric. Pours black with tan head. Aroma of dark candy, peat, smoke and dark roasted grain. Flavor is fairly intense but balanced, malty, peat, light smoke, dark fruit, coffee, toffee, alcohol spice. Mouth feel is medium-heavy body with low-medium carbonation. Overall, solid brew!!

This poured a murky brown color with some molasses, peat, and toffee in the nose. The flavor is rather sweet and malty with some caramel, molasses, nutty flavors, and toffee. Some alcohol in the finish. Overall a nice beer

Pours a dark amber/chestnut brown color with a 1.5 finger beige head that slowly fades into a lasting ring. Streaks of spotty lacing left behind. Nice barrel presence in the nose with dry oak, toasted coconut, vanilla and spicy bourbon. Doesnt overpower the base beer allowing sweet and roasted malt notes to come through. Hints of caramel, toffee, hazelnut and chocolate. Slightly smokey but not acrid or burnt smelling. Smells great! Medium bodied with a strong barrel character that adds another layer of flavor to the base beer. Some dry oak along with silky vanilla, toasted coconut and a delicious spicy bourbon character. Although the barrel flavors are strong, they are perfectly integrated into the flavor without overpowering the base beer. Lots of excellent bourbon flavor but barely any heat making it deceptively drinkable. Underneath the barrel, there is a nice combination of sweet and roasted malt notes. Slightly smokey with hints of dark chocolate, toffee, caramel and oatmeal lingering into a somewhat dry finish. Highly recommended!

Sample at faux-bab. Dark brown pour, darker than most scotch ales. Taste and aroma are chocolate and scotch. I get a lot of burnt smokey peat malts. Comes off more of a scotch whiskey than bourbon.

UPDATED: DEC 23, 2012 750mL bottle, 47/246. Clear deep ruby with a half finger beige head, fading to a thick ring before long. Same toffee caramel nose as the regular version with a nice bourbon backbone. Flavor adds some dried cherries and raisins with plenty of bourbon and alcohol heat. Dry finish with a fair amount of booze, bitterness at a 3. Medium body with light prickly carbonation. Better than Id expected, but I like the regular version better. 7-3-8-4-13--3.6 Rerate, just released 2012 batch. Not all that bourbon or boozy, but most definitely present with a nice toasted coconut vanilla creme hazelnut thing going on. Good brown sugar caramel sweetness. 8-4-8-4-16--4.0

From notes. This was shared at a tasting put on by @mikem409 on November 7. Poured from a 750 mL bottle. The pour is a dark dark brown, with a little ruby or garnet poking through ad a nice darker head. The aroma is great. There is a lot of big caramel malts and a great vanilla and oak character from the barrel. There is a good lick of bourbon on the back end, which I wasnt expecting entirely. The flavor is really good. There is a lot of caramel and dark fruits to go along with a solid vanilla character and an excellent woodiness. The mouth feel is decently thick and the carbonation had dissipated a bit. There is a boozy heat that really comes through on the back end. The aftertaste is solid. Caramel and dried fruit with just a touch of chocolate and the booze. Really good.
