COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Big Sound Scotch Ale is dedicated to our good buddy Gino, the most punk rock bagpiper youll ever meet, and the rest of the men and women of Tampa Bay Pipes and Drums. Brown in color, Big Sound has huge notes of dark sweet toffee with underlying mild notes of coffee in the aroma. The flavor starts with a slight note of cherry and then opens into a Goliath of a malt character with notes of dark sweet toffee, slight hints of coffee and mild notes of toasted bread in the finish. Big Sound Scotch Ale pairs well with Haggis, Highland Games, Huge Heads and Enormous Pillows and of course Bagpipe music.

750mL bottle, pours a deep dark brown with a reddish tinge and a small tan head. Aroma is very deep, with scotch, wood, toffee and caramel malts, and some dark fruits. Flavour is quite sweet, with toffee, sweet caramel and lots of sweet dark cherries. Not much of the scotch on the flavour, just a lot of rich caramel and highly sweet notes without being cloying. Very enjoyable slow sipper.

Nice sweet belgian strong ale aroma, tons of esters here. Taste very similar, but a bit of maple syruppy sweetness. Dryness in finish, woody, and nutty.

Bottle from Kingdom Liquor. Poured a clear dark brown color with an average frothy off-white head that mostly lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy toasted sweet malt and earthy aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy toffee flavor with a medium to heavy sweet finish of moderate to long duration. This is a very good brew.

Scopey (13316) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - AUG 25, 2011
Bottle from Brewdog Bar Aberdeen. It pours darkest brown (near black), with a foamy beige head. The nose is toffee, caramel, treacle, brown sugar, salted liquorice and chlorine. The taste is caramel, aniseed, malt vinegar, smoke, toffee, vanilla, salted liquorice, treacle and butterscotch, with a rich, sickly-sweet finish. Its full bodied and has average carbonation. Interesting, but far too sweet for me.
