Bottle picked up from the brewery. Pours a deep, chocolate brown with a very slight tan head. Aroma is toffee, dark fruit, roasted malt. Taste follows with an exquisite mouth feel for a brown ale. Recommended.

From notes. 22 oz bottle shared with Doug at his humble abode on March 07. The pour is a medium brown with a big frothy light khaki colored head and a ton of lace as it slowly fizzes (oh yeah, it sounded like a soda) down to a film. There is a light bubbly collar left. The aroma is interesting. There is a ton of sweet malts and a light cocoa. There is a bit of oxidation present, and it’s got a strange earthy spiciness that I don’t particularly care for. The flavor is pretty on par with this. There is a very dominating sweet malt and a little bit of brown sugar and cocoa. It’s a little more bitter than the nose would let on. There is again the spiciness that I can’t figure out. The mouth feel is surprisingly thicker for a brown, but that fizzy carbonation really takes some of the enjoyment away. There is a lingeringly bitter cocoa and roasty finish. All in all, this wasn’t awful, but that earthy spiciness really threw me for a loop. 77ships (11482) - Antwerpen, BELGIUM - OCT 31, 2015
750 ml. bottle sampled @ Delirium Hoppy Loft. GUSHER. Bottle was quite a few years old probably. Brown, uneven mocha head. Nose is distinctly sour, sour coffee grounds, red fruits, powdery dark malts, vinegar, glue, puckering. Taste is sour coffee grounds, grainy malts, sour red fruit, vinegar, glue, rotting red grapes, sour mocha, varnish, grape jelly, spoiled lactic. Very heavy carbonation. Powdery. Age very likely aggravated these characteristics but age alone couldn’t have caused them. It was very likely stored chilled for most of its lifetime. Oddly it isn’t that bad really, one can almost think of it as a badly made Oud Bruin, some will probably rather like this one. Pours dark brown with a red hue and a medium light brown head. Head retention is ok. Wow. Dark brown pour with light tan head. Aroma is sweet roast malt, wood and caramel. Taste is creamy version of the nose. Very very nice.
