On draft at BA Hunahpu Release. Pours a medium brown with an off-white head. Nose is malt, it almost wants to be smokey, subtle hints of bourbon, vanilla, and bits of wood. Flavor is similar- lots of brown ale (nuts, malt and a bit of yeast) followed by vanilla and hints of mellow bourbon. Light to medium in body and complex overall. 50belair (3617) - Florida, USA - SEP 26, 2011
Huge thanks to Destructo for giving me a pull at CCB. The plastic cup wasn’t the best tasting vessel, but the beer is very good. Dark cherry and wood aromas. All kinds of things going on here like chocolate, caramel, roasted malts, cherries and other dark stone fruits, wood and earthy/nutty notes. Would really like to revisit this one..... Tap at CCB for BA Hunahpu thanks to drowland! The pour, into a plastic cup (?), is a very murky mahogany with a medium, yellowish head. Okay lace. Shit serving vessel but probably smarter given the handful of broken glasses at the release. Nose is pretty much absent. Plastic? Slight oak and cherries? Taste is pretty good. Very heavy chocolate with black cherry. Richer and nicely bitter. So different from normal Bolita in SRM and profile it’s hard to know exactly what I am drinking. But Danny left this beer with me suddenly so I finished the whole thing. Palate is pretty chalky. Decent. burg326 (5479) - Florida, USA - SEP 25, 2011
Poured on draft at Cigar City, was a dark brown with aromas of seet malt, caramel, nuts, wood, and bourbon. Flavors followed the aroma, and the bourbon was not overpowering at all like the aroma would suggest. Pretty good treatment of the bolita. drowland (8629) - Georgia, USA - SEP 24, 2011
9/24/11. On tap at BA Hunahpu’s. Creamy brown pour with a frothy khaki head. Subdued aroma of caramel, nuttiness, and barrel. Bitter flavor of nuts up front with a touch of wood and caramel. Nice.
