Draft... Pours black with a mid-sized, fluffy, crème-colored head that refuses to dissipate. The aroma is too restrained and I have to work way too hard to pull notes of chocolate crème, toasted tree nuts and dark chocolate from my glass. Full-bodied with a thin mouthfeel and lively carbonation. The flavor is ashen, bitter and loaded with 85% dark chocolate. On tap @ the CCB taproom, Tampa .. . good dose of belgian yeast .. . medium mouth .. . mild bitters .. . tart and dark cooking chocolate .. . enjoyable but a whole pint would have been trying .. . . its my blood pressure you know, if i don’t take it regularly i feel like i’m gonna blow up! Draft on tap at Cigar City Tap Room (Tampa, FL). Pours a deeper brown darl hue, well hazed body throws deep near opaque brownish black hues. A healthy ruby copper bottom and edges glow well. Frothy light brown head atop cakes, laces ok overall. Aromas are growing toasty malts, bit of cocoa, earth, and some gentle fruit. Faint woody feel, mellow estery fruit, cocoa and gentle coffee. Touch of Belgian yeast influence skates in as it warms a bit more. A bit more cocoa driven at times, mellow toastiness, dryness hit. Initial is medium bodied, some solid toastiness, cocoa, earthy brown malts. Touches of Belgian yeast, mellow spice, gentle fruit. A lot going on here, drying out and getting more toasty, faint smoked feel, touch of leather, dryness as we move on. Some banana, gentle estery fruit. Mellow sweetness, brown malts, biscuits into the middle. Backend shows toastiness, earthy dryness, some cocoa, earth, tobacco and gentle woody elements. Dry, mellow hopping. Lingering toasty and faint cocoa. Mellow fruit, dried out yeast. Pretty good beer, especially at 4.5 ABV. Really puts a lot of elements together well. I’ve had some bigger girthy sticky Belgian Brown Porter types lately back home, and this smaller version blows them out of the water. Well done. burg326 (5482) - Florida, USA - MAR 16, 2013
On draft at CCB poured a dark brown color with aromas of light roast, a touch of dark fruit and spicey belgium yeast. Fla ors are the same light roast with light clove and spice in the finish.

On draft at Cigar City and Cigar City Brewpub. Pours a hazy porter brown with a soapy tan head. Nose is roasted malt, earth, peanut shells, and some earth and ash. Flavor is similar with roast, chocolate, peanut and spice, then earth and ash in the finish. Growler from the brewery. Pours black with a thick off white head. Big roasted grain aroma with begian yeast notes. Taste is big and roasty, slightly astringent with light chocolate notes. Good.
