Growler... Pours clear and deeply ruby with burnt-orange highlights and a brief, mid-sized, pink head. The aroma is an odd triangle of lactic acid, flora and sangria - fruity and red wine-like. Light-bodied with jazzy carbonation. The flavor is sour, fruity and sangria-like, but minerals replace the sugary sweetness here. Crisp, tart, mineral finish that dries out a touch. I’ve never known hibiscus to do this to a beer. I’ve tried a bunch of hibiscus saisons and they are nothing like this. Gotta be some of that crazy Saint Somewhere yeasty magic involved. I really dig this. Growler courtesy of burg326!

Entering old rates, on tap at the brewpub. Pours a pinkish red with a thin white head. Aroma of lacto and hibiscus, as well as strong citrus. Taste is tart, citrus and hibiscus with sour wheat in the finish. Solid Berliner

burg326 (5662) - Florida, USA - FEB 21, 2014
Poured a light pink color with aromas of light tart wheat, some sherry notes and a touch of floral aromatics. Flavors were light tart wheat, that was balanced with some light hibiscus, some light fruit and a touch of funk. A solid collaboration overall.

Bottle share at Paul Unwin tasting at kernel. Aroma is sulphur, funk and aromatic parfummed. Pink / red onion skin colour with a finepink head. Flavour is sweet and sour, sherry raspberry. Very drying on the palate, light puckering. some tanin.

Growler shared with Paul Unwin at The Kernel. Clear amber colour to cherry red, slight haze, clean white thin head. Nose is pungent cherry, earthy, slight oxidisation, raspberry. Taste is raspberry jam, apple, tart sourness, bit thin and watery. Not my thing.

TheAlum (7164) - Aurora, Illinois, USA - NOV 18, 2013
Growler shared at Fear Tuesday Tasting (Downers Grove, IL). Pours a nice deep ruby glow, a faint haze but near transparent glow with some gentle glow that grows as it settles. A frothy offwhite pinkish head as a small lacing head, sticks around ok. Nice deep berry and juicy glow. The aromas show a bit tart, lemony and gentle funkiness, a bit odd with some florals, subtle tart hibiscus grows with gentle touches of dryness. Firmer tartness grows, lactic is gentle to decent, a bit lemony. Initial is lighter end of the fold, some lactic life, decent yogurt with some nice tartness. Earthy and tart, hibiscus tea, some lemony tarrtness pokes, a bit dry. The middle is a touch fruity, dry and lactic. Some nice gentle berry, lacgic and lemon. Touches of sweet tarts, some lactic and yogurty feel, floral and hibiscus tea. Backend is dry, tart, medium sourness at times and a bit more mellow at others. A bit dry, a lighter body but not just sour. This works well enough at times, especially if you’ve had hibiscus tea. Solid stuff, a bit of a one liner but I thought it was ok. Nose and front end a bit odd, with some footy funk, but this beer comes around.

Growler thanks to Mr Unwin. It pours deep red with a medium off-white head. The nose is smooth tartness, floral, berry, jam and cherry tunes. The taste is crisp, tart, cherry, cranberry, rapsberry, cherry pip, sherbet, floral, light acidity and apple with a dry, tart finish. Medium body and fine, prickly carbonation. Crisp, tart and highly drinkable. Very nice.

Cool looking growler share at Paul tasting. Big ups to Paul for all these goodies. Deep and hazy reddy purple with a big and foamy pink head. Nose is very tarty and full of raspberries and cherry. Quite sour with some grassy hops and hay. A touch of candied sugar. Sweet and tarty goes the taste. Moderate sugar, sherbert, red cherries, sweet plum and raspberries. A touch if vinegar comes through with light acidic tones. Slight oxidisation buts would expect that being in a growler from the other side of the world. Nice stuff
