Shared bottle to snifter (big thanks to daknole for this one!). Looks good; dark and boozy with low carbonation. Tastes good too; much like it smells. A little busy, but good. Mouthfeel is a little thin for how big it is. Still, damn good! Bockyhorsey (2638) - Mesa, Arizona, USA - JUL 11, 2012
750ml courtesy of thecheeseman. Bottle 207/240. The oatmeal and chocolate on the nose was very good. Black body good head wand some decent lace. The thick oatmeal presence along with the coco stood out the most with some boose in the mix. With the alcohol presence still easy on the palate. Good brew thanks was worth the wait. madvike (3306) - Middleton, Wisconsin, USA - JUL 9, 2012
Bottle (#88) at Muckfest III shared by TheAlum...thanks Adam! - Pours with a deep brown body and a bubbly tan head. Nose is honey and sugar sweetness, leather, a bit of tobacco, brown sugar, figs, and some baking spice (allspice?). Taste is less sweet--plums, dark malt, and lots of brown sugar. A bit of whiskey as well, though I don’t get any of the rum. Too sweet for my tastes. Reynolds314 (3472) - Connecticut, USA - JUL 9, 2012
Pretty good stuff here but a bit muddled like so many blended am strongs. The flavors are all sweet and boozy and rich and roasty but could be a bit cleaner. Ernesto987 (6050) - Arizona, USA - JUL 6, 2012
Wow huge heavy complexity. You can pick out all the barrel treatments. And the rum big sound isn’t infected! Hoo whoo!

Pours dark brown. Big on the nose and flavor. Complex and sweet, almost too sweet. Good almost great! corby112 (2813) - philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 14, 2012
Draft at Cigar City during Hunahpu Day 2012.
Pours a dark chocolate brown color that’s almost black with a two finger frothy beige head that slowly fades into a lasting cap/ring. Sporadic steaks and spots of lacing left behind.
Sweet boozy aroma with a strong barrel presence giving off hints of sweet, spicy whiskey, earthy oak and vanilla. Underneath, there is some faint malt notes with hints of chocolate, oatmeal and smoke.
Full bodied with an almost perfectly integrated barrel presence. Sweet, spicy whiskey and dry, toasted oak followed by chewy, sweet chocolate malt, caramel, oatmeal, faint smoke and sweet dark fruit notes. Really well balanced with an excellently masked ABV and dry finish. Excellent, one of the best beers of the day. asheft (3125) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 11, 2012
[bottle--thanks, fonefan and cgarvieuk!]
Nice pumpernickel aroma with some ethanol and spicy hops. Clear light black garnet under a lacy, tan ring. Smooth pumpernickel flavour with nice tangy, tropical fruit and vanilla. Complex. Medium body, moderate carbonation, tart chocolate finish. fonefan (52426) - VestJylland, DENMARK - JUN 1, 2012
