dark brown, beige head. Lightly sour and malty nose, some barrel, chocolate, coconut, cigar ash and vanilla. Chcolate and plum flavor, very juicy fruit with light chocolate bitterness. Coating sweet body, very chewy. Well done ccb, one of the best from them despite thin alcohol note with warmth. 857415
Thanks Dan! Black with sepia tinged edge, thin cream head. Nose and flavor infected, nose more than flavor, light chocolate, bit green and washed out profile from infection, comes off like cardboard with a light paint thinner and lactic quality. The infection actually rolled decently into the cake flavor, particularly given the chewy body. The infection at best unintentionally overwhelming, mediocre, and one-sided.

Bottle: The aroma consists of chocolate, bourbon, hints of vanilla, and a touch of sour and vinegar. It pours a dark brown with some orange tint around the edges of the glass and a small tan head. The flavor starts with a quick dose of chocolate and vanilla before a light sour fruit and a hint of cherry hits in the finish. Medium bodied mild carbonation. While the sourness kind of "works," I doubt it supposed to be there.
Courtesy of northernbrews. Dark brown, nice beige head. Up front, some sourness is there, not sure what it is, malt character in the backend, not much else. Flavor has a huge malt profile. Toffee, caramel, light woody character, residuel sweetness, some sherry like characters, light sour twinge. Oily/smooth mouthfeel. Bonus points for the tiny chunks of wood left in the glass. My 100th Cigar City Rating. 750mL pours deep darkness with mocha head. The aroma is oak, smooth bourbon, chocolate, dark roasted malts, toffee, caramel candy and then booze at the end of the draw. The taste is smooth too and obliviously complex with dark roasted malts, dark baker’s chocolate, then bourbon and some oak. It gets a bit dark roasted coffee and chicory like by about midway. I get vanilla, chocolate, chicory and pine hops coming to the surface and sliding into the after taste with a slight sweet bourbon warming booze experience. otakuden (1783) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - OCT 22, 2010
Having local beer geek friends who do more beer travelling then I do is a blessing when it comes to Cigar City Brewing and many of their specialty/one-off beers. A big thank you is due Eric for hooking me up with a bottle, #103 of #204 total, of their Campeador. Released in fall of 2009, she didn’t last sit before cracking open her bounty to share with a couple good friends.

Murky brown, she brings to mind muddy earthen puddles right after a wicked rainstorm. A tannish puff makes for a nice collar despite her rather meager head. I tease her dirty brown depths to no lacey avail. While not necessarily appealing to look at, her nose is another story entirely. I immediately am engulfed in the richest chocolate fudge chunks kissed by dark earthen woods and topped with powdered sugar sweetness. Heavy holiday breads finish with a hit of sweet burnt caramel heat in the back of my nose. Toasted marshmallow and graham crackers mingle with the fudge for an unexpected s’mores effect. Vanillins make a brief showing, and I am more than ready to satiate my thirst. I find a pleasantly clean body which is in stark contrast to her weighty nose. Just as promised, my tastebuds are inundated with the richest of artisanal fudges which melt into chocolate graham crackers and toasted marshmallows. While I may be sans fireplace, this is Florida after all, she still gives the impression of a crackling fireplace of blackened wood, toasted marshmallows, crunchy burnt caramels, and melted chocolates kissed with vanilla. Furthering our quaffing journey, I notice a leathery affect atop my tongue which dries in soft brushes. That’s okay because a dry palate induces a mouth-watering thirst which I am more than pleased to quench with more Cigar City Campeador. Chocolate-covered cherries say hello, but fudgy chocolaty burnt delights are the star of this brew. As her last quaff glides like silk across my tongue and down my throat, I must say she was quite different than what I was expecting in every delightful way possible.
I’m not sure if Campeador is ageable since I didn’t have enough bottles to do so. But no matter how long I age a beer, whether shared or kept to myself, it’s the drinking of the beer that is the reward.
750ml bottle thanks to Blazer06. Pours jet black with a two-finger tan head that leaves some foam on the beer. The aroma is roasty with coffee and sweet malt notes, and...brett. What? The flavor is a little like a poor man’s Cuvee Delphine, in that it has considerable brett presence. Besides that, there’s roast, caramel malt, chocolate, coffee, and sour cherries. This probably got some unintended bugs in there, but that being said, it’s not too bad. Medium-full bodied with extremely high carbonation, probably from the brett, which is not exactly befitting of this beer. #138. Dark brown with little head. Vinous aroma with some cherry charred wood and chocolate. Lots to this one, yeast, fruit, chocolate, very malty. Feels kind of light in the mouth, though. Thanks to Degarth for the share. Pours dark brown with a tan head. Nose is chocolate, malt, some earthiness, roast/ char, molasses, and dark cherry. There is a sligh hint of infection, but it does not really detract overall. Flavor is similar with subtle bourbon, chocolate, some wood, and cherry. Medium- to full-bodied and very good overall. Bottle. Near black body with reddish highlights and a thin tan head. Malty nose with big notes of unripened fruit (mostly raisin), bourbon, and oak, lighter notes of toffee and vanilla. Full body with a slightly oily texture and soft carbonation. Flavor is sweet and boozy, lots of dark fruit up front, raisin and plum, mid way through I get some roasty malt and some sweet molasses and brown sugar. Also present were some mild smokey notes and some dark cocoa. Finished slightly dry and vinuous. Good.

Bottle number 3 of 204 from 2010 thanks to cquiroga. Pours with a black body and a tan head. Aroma is lactic, vinous, infection, berries, toffee, bourbon and woody. Taste is earthy, ashes, metallic, toffee, vinous, wood, brown sugar. Creamy mouthfeel, with light bubbles. Not bad for an infected beer.
