Bottle from EricAndersNavy, thanks! Black and opague. Oak, vanilla, malt, vinous notes and caramel in the aroma. Hopjesvla. Malty, full bodied, oaky, quite vinous flavor with porto, milk chocolate, vanilla, hopjesvla and some warming alcohol. Amazing complexity. Loads and loads of flavor. World class!! The dark body on this sexy brew made it look like a stout. The aroma revealed bourbon-soaked raisins, cherries, vanilla and wood. The taste is beyond incredible! Notes of; Chocolate, vanilla, cinnamon, earth, raisins, cherries and oak. In the finish is an almost tart fruitfulness that puts this one over the edge. Holy shit this is good stuff - thanks Jordan! steelcitybrew (454) - Orlando, Florida, USA - OCT 7, 2010
Pours a dark brown with a creamy tan head. Smell is sweet caramel, oak, and roasted malts. Caramel, toffee and wood notes for the taste. Palate is amazing with a balanced mouthfeel and nice warming ability. This beer is fantastic. markwise (5441) - North of Tampa, Florida, USA - OCT 2, 2010
Thanks to JW77 for this one. Pours obsidian black with a tan head. Nose is chocolate, bourbon, vanilla, coffee, rye, slight fruit, and a tiny hint of booze. This is black magic...flavor is chocolate with rye, coffee, vanilla, and slight fruit. Silky smooth mouthfeel on this medium, almost full-bodied beer. Not too boozy; does not really taste or feel like 9%. This beer is amazing for mouthfeel alone, when you factor in the flavors it is outstanding.

WOW!!! Another amazing freakin’ beer from CC. The pour was blacker than a steers’ tuchus on a moonless night. The nose was a blur with chocolate, vanilla, bourbon, and oak. The taste was unbelievably smooth and complex with all kinds of layers and sublayers. The beer has that silky porter feel to it with dark fruits, carmel, toffee, roasted malt, and bourbon flavors. One could get into some serious trouble with this deceptively smooth nine percenter... Plovmand (8586) - Grindsted, DENMARK - NOV 3, 2010
Bottle. Huge kudos to Hopscotch for bringing me this baby! It pours pitch black with a medium creamy tan head. The aroma is dark fruity and oaky with notes of chocolate, red grapes, light coffee and some hard roasted malt. The flavour is vinous and oaky. Notes of raisins, plum, chocolate, sweet caramel, sweet malt, roasted malt, light coffee and sweet tobacco. Light soy in the finish. Very lovely and complex brew! Wow! Bottle. Poured black color with an average frothy brown head that mostly lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy toasted chocolate malt, woody with a small alcohol aroma. Full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Heavy bourbon woody and dark sweet flavor with a heavy bittersweet finish of long duration. This is a standout beer.

Folks speak of infection with this one, I guess my tongue isn’t as perceptive or I’m a lucky man. Yummy with tons of things going on, roller-coaster for your mouth. Benjii (3049) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - OCT 1, 2011
In bottle. A black beer with a thin tan head. Aroma of roasty malt, coffee, chocolate and caramel with a subtle sourness. Light balsamic vinegar.
Flavours of chocolate, roasted malt, caramel, musty hay and a nice long alcohol hum. Beautiful oily mouth-feel. Quite tart with port wine and oak to finish. Very complex. Superb!
