COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
When Cigar City’s dark whim, or "capricho oscuro", gets the best of us, we select our favorite barrel-aged beers to blend into a Gordian knot of liquid complexity. Capricho Oscuro #6 is a blend of a bourbon barrel-aged imperial stout, a bourbon barrel-aged Belgian-style dark ale, a brandy barrel-aged double nut brown ale and a bourbon barrel-aged Baltic porter.

TASTING NOTES
An intense nose of candied apple, toffee and tobacco is punctuated with a soft, vinous alcohol aroma. On the palate, molasses, vanilla and raisin character set the stage for a rustic, woody quality from aging in several unique barrels. Soft carbonation and lingering sweetness create a lasting, luscious finish.

BuckeyeBoy (8476) - Boise, Idaho, USA - OCT 15, 2017
12oz bottle pours out dark brown topped with a tan head. Nose is big sweet malts bourbon barrel vanilla chocolate. Taste is more of the nice sweet chocolate roast bourbon barrel vanilla.

12 oz. bottle from Homer321 - thanks again, Sean! Pours a deep, dark, basically opaque brown with a small tan head that settles into a ring. Notes of cocoa, fudge, roasted malts, oak, vanilla, toasted brown sugar, dark and dried fruits (figs, raisins, dates), molasses, surup, tobacco, brandy, and bourbon. Hint of soy-like umami. Medium-full bodied, with moderate carbonation and a sweet, smooth, eventually coating mouthfeel. Nice to come back to this series after all these years. Reminds me of 6 years ago. These are big and complex and a little messy and even somewhat oxidized but always good and fun and satisfying. Unmistakably Cigar City. Open this one now if you still have it.

Skyview (6099) - Papoose Jct, Minnesota, USA - JUL 4, 2017
Sampled from 12-oz bottle and shared by Steasy. Pours a rich dark brown colored brew with an average sized off-white head that slowly dissipates and leaves behind some spotty lacing. Aroma of chocolate and vanilla notes, molasses, bourbon and some roasted nuts. Taste is full bodied, some bourbon presence with dark chocolate, roasted nuts, vanilla and some wood. Finish is semi-sweet, a little alcohol character with vanilla and chocolate aftertaste.

Bottle shared by alexsdad06. Poured a black color with an average froth tan head that lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy toasted chocolate malt, caramel, dark fruit and alcohol aroma. Medium to heavy sweet toasted dark chocolate malt flavor with a heavy complex sweet and small alcohol bite finish of long duration. Full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. This is a standout beer.

12 oz bottle from Juan shared with Tmoney99 and the Dutch’s crew. Pours dark brown to black in color with a small beige head. The aroma and flavor have dark fruits, dark chocolate, mild roasted malts, hints of spice, mild to moderate barrel notes, vanilla, light Belgian character, smooth, easy drinking, almost 13% beer, good complexity, a real treat.

From notes. Enjoyed at a tasting at Abu’s house on February 22. 12 oz bottle, blend 6. The pour is a heavy dark black with a thin darker tan head that falls slowly to a thin ring, leaving no lace. The aroma is incredible. There is a big bourbon up front and a lot of dark fruits. There is a raisin, plum, molasses, heavy darker chocolate, light brandy, lots of woodiness. It’s just so complex. There is a lot of caramel and toffee that comes rolling in about half way through. The flavor is just as good. There is a little more subtle oak from the bourbon and brandy, but the dark fruits explode. There is a heavy chocolate and caramel that goes with it. It’s sweet molasses, dark fruits, charred oak, and a hint of bourbon and brandy. This is just phenomenal. The mouth feel is a little lighter. There is a nice soft carbonation and a lingeringly charred oak, molasses, and dark fruit heaviness that lingers and lingers. This is freaking fantastic!
