Ancient rating from Hunahpu’s Day 2012, I recently found my tasting notes. Figured why waste good ticks…One of the highlights of the day. Big chocolate, bourbon, vanilla, wood. Delicious.

Very dark brown. Deep vanilla character with a rich milk chocolate character. The wood really bursts through the finish. Good.

Draft… CCB’s Hunahpu’s Day 2012This beer rocks!… Pours pitch black with a mid-sized, creamy, well-tanned head that doesn’t even consider dissipation as an option. The interplay of the base beer and the Heaven Hill barrel magically transforms the aroma of this potion into something resembling a fantastically luscious chocolate crème. Full-bodied and ultra-velvety with pillow-soft carbonation. The flavor delivers excellent balance and is the perfect assimilation of bourbon, black malts and bittersweet dark chocolate. Lengthy, deeply roasted, dark chocolate and whiskey finish. Quite possibly the highlight of my Hunahpu’s Day 2012! Certainly one of the better beers I’ve ever tried.

On draft at Hunahpu Day 2012. Pours a medium stout brown with a tan head. Nose is chocolate, cocoa, roast, some vanilla, and some earth. Flavor is similar- the bourbon and chocolate combo really work out well together here. This was a great idea- this beer is a prime candidate for barrel aging. Medium in body and very good overall.

Black pour, brown head. Bourbon, vanilla, peat, light espresso and chocolate. Flavor follows suit, the bourbon is nice, good vanilla, some ashpalt, coffee...yeah its great.

Poured a dark brown, almost black color, aromas of chocolate, smoke, roast, and some bourbon. Flavor is a tantalizing creamy chocolate, roast, and smooth bourbon. A real nice beer overall, glad I was in the right place at the right time.

Chipalsa (1310) - Florida, USA - MAR 11, 2012
With the deep brown body and head, this beer looked much more heavy than it actually was. The nose was mellow with hints of roast, raisins and vanilla. The was light and earthy, also not too strong before the chocolate and wood finish.

This was a nice surprise at Hunahpu day 2012. Draft. This one gave off aromas of nice chocolate and some slight roasty earthiness. Bourbon notes were quite prevalent but didn’t drown out the chocolatey malty goodness. This one poured nice and dark with an off white head. Taste is rich bourbon and chocolate. This one was on the sweet side, with an almost vanilla quality from the bourbon. Slightly earthy too. I love Hot Blooded but the bourbon barrels took this one to a new level. Cheers!!
