Sample at the tap room. Pours a flat black color with a thin light beige head that disappears quickly. Spotty lacing on the glass. Aroma of chocolate and cherries. Rich and smooth body with flavors of black cherry, dark chocolate and malt. The finish is chocolate cherry liqueur. Pretty good overall. daknole (11049) - Scottsdale, Arizona, USA - MAY 2, 2013
Dark brown pour, brown head. Chocolate covered cherries liquified and turned into an alcoholic wonder. Loved this beer. onceblind (9686) - Denver, Colorado, USA - OCT 18, 2014
Deep black with no head. Deep syrupy chocolaty nose featuring a lot of syrupy dark cherries. Big fat sultry body with a syrupy note of dark deep chocolate, cherry syrup and roasty tones. Too syrupy for its own good but boy, there’s a lot of good flavor there. Cherry and chocolate in wonderous harmony. Ibrew2or3 (8614) - Tempe, Arizona, USA - SEP 9, 2012
Poured up on tap at the CCB brewpub with very dark body with mahogany hues and thin tan head. The aroma is big with a lactose like note mixing dark roasted malts, rich dark chocolate and a touch of black licorice. The taste is rich with pleasing levels of dark roasted malts, nearly burnt malts, some chocolate and then a rich cherry juice nectar like quality. It then rolls into smooth sweet nectar enhanced black strap molasses. Into the finish the cherry sweetness with prune and near raisin nuances keep pace with the various malty notes to make for a pleasing “sipper” like beer experience. Poured at Falling Rock (Denver, CO). Pours a deep blackish hue, ruby glow with firm darker body, some gentle glow. Frothy tannish head atop dies to a negligible ring, laces small. Aromas are cocoa, red fruit, cherry and toffee. Some decent roast, earthy, and caramel. Initial is firmer bodied, thick with toffee, toast, black cherry, cocoa. Some toastiness, vanillin and earth. Some sweetness, caramel and rich cherry flavors, black cherry pulp, gentle roast. Backend is dry, bitter and tart. Some roasty nib, firmer malt. Nice flavors and good flow overall. Touches of tartness, fruit, and roast.

Out of town for 8 days, come back and this gem is on, what a lucky day. Poured a dark black color, aromas of cherries, light molases, some roast, and chocolate. Flavors are the same, nice cherry flavor, light on the palate for a 10.5er. Glad I didnt miss this one. markwise (5441) - North of Tampa, Florida, USA - AUG 11, 2012
On draft at the Cigar City Tasting Room. Pours a typical stout brown with a tan head. Nose is roast, dark chocolate, and some black cherry/ dark cherry. Flavor is similar with roast and chocolate followed by a burst of cherry. Medium in body and pretty nice overall. maekchu (3911) - Hirakata, JAPAN - AUG 9, 2012
On tap at the brewery. Big nose of plums, grapes, and some tobacco. Black, flat, no lace. Geez! Big deep dark fruit flavors, anise, some yeast. On the edge of beer and something wilder. Medium-thick body. Very good stuff. Might be a bit young. Would like to try this in a year or two. jcartamdg (3445) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 28, 2012

On tap at CCB. Pours black with no head. Big boozy cherry and dark roasted grain aroma. Lighter cherry in the taste, but lots more dark roasted grain and a nice thick body. Tasty and hides the 10.5 abv well.
