Dark brown pour, brown head. Chocolate covered cherries liquified and turned into an alcoholic wonder. Loved this beer. beastmaster (381) - Florida, USA - MAR 9, 2013
Ccb hanuphu day. Black pour on tap.thin head. So sweet. Light licorice cherry or thick dark cherry coke syrup.a little sour but it works. No bitter end great great beer. burg326 (5482) - Florida, USA - AUG 6, 2012
Out of town for 8 days, come back and this gem is on, what a lucky day. Poured a dark black color, aromas of cherries, light molases, some roast, and chocolate. Flavors are the same, nice cherry flavor, light on the palate for a 10.5er. Glad I didnt miss this one. kabsetter (103) - Tampa, Florida, USA - AUG 10, 2012
Snifter at the Cigar City tasting room: looks and pours a pitch black with an aroma of cherry, coffee and the malts. Taste is lovely , sweet ( but not too sweet) with the 10.5 alcohol totally hidden. The weak point is its totally flat. Not that that is a problem for me personally. Great offering from CC! Ibrew2or3 (8614) - Tempe, Arizona, USA - SEP 9, 2012
Poured up on tap at the CCB brewpub with very dark body with mahogany hues and thin tan head. The aroma is big with a lactose like note mixing dark roasted malts, rich dark chocolate and a touch of black licorice. The taste is rich with pleasing levels of dark roasted malts, nearly burnt malts, some chocolate and then a rich cherry juice nectar like quality. It then rolls into smooth sweet nectar enhanced black strap molasses. Into the finish the cherry sweetness with prune and near raisin nuances keep pace with the various malty notes to make for a pleasing “sipper” like beer experience.

On draft at falling rock during GABF. First cold sip was disappointing. Cherry was almost nonexistent. As the beer warmed, however, it really shined. The cherry is there but subtle and never cloying. As it reached room temp, it was almost a bit sour. Oily mouthfeel and slight soy sauciness-like umami made the beer feel aged and complex. Don’t know the abv, but there was no hint of alcohol burn. Really great. maekchu (3917) - Hirakata, JAPAN - AUG 9, 2012
On tap at the brewery. Big nose of plums, grapes, and some tobacco. Black, flat, no lace. Geez! Big deep dark fruit flavors, anise, some yeast. On the edge of beer and something wilder. Medium-thick body. Very good stuff. Might be a bit young. Would like to try this in a year or two. JPDurden24 (1675) - Chandler, Arizona, USA - OCT 4, 2012
Shared from a growler by Ibrew2or3. Dark black pour with a thin tan head. It is nice and roasty with some definite dark chocolate, cherry comes through a in the flavor with some sweet molasses. Good stuff!!! M82 (469) - Kansas, USA - MAY 16, 2013
On tap at the CCB tasting room while vacationing in Tampa late summer 2012; Awesome, extreme appearance, very dark body and head which faded to a ring; flavors and aromas of dark chocolate and coffee with cherry cleaning up and adding a punch of color; very deep, rich, and exceptionally smooth Dr_MedievAle (214) - Alabama, USA - OCT 6, 2014
on draft at Falling Rock during GABF. Aroma: caramel, marshmallow, and melting milk chocolate on the nose. Appearance: dark black with off white head. Taste: bitter dark chocolate, sweet vanilla and cherry. Palate: slick with slight carb. Smooth aftertaste. Cherry isn’t overpowering in this one, but blends nicely with the other flavors.
